Theme: Memories of Destination Star Trek
  • Guest: lead environment Artist Scot Boyd and a visit from (very new non-STO) community manager Winter Mullenix.
  • J'Ula TFO for November was delayed. We will get FTFO, though, we will be going once more unto the Breach, dear friends.
  • Infected: Manus was removed from RTFO system because it requires good communication between players, and that contradicts "random" part.
  • Exact explanation by u/ambassadorkael from comments: "The full version was more like: Manus has some design decisions, like the lack of check points and the boss fight with insta kill floors and lockouts after death, that aren't decisions we would make today or ones we want to highlight. And yes, completing it requires a close knit team that's communicating well, which is not something you would expect to find in a PUG. Which is why you can still play it with your friends, it's just not in Random anymore."
  • Gamma recruitment is rerun because there's Jem'Hadar LTS stuff released.
  • Recruitment events is one of most time-intense things they can do.
  • Creating ship bridge takes ~2 weeks and full mission takes ~6 weeks, and there's usually no time between making missions to squeeze creation of bridge in.
  • It's impossible to port Neverwinter assets. It's technically possible to port ones from Champions.
  • Mike accidentally grabbed wrong bag at train.
  • Some people used convention to come and give bug reports.
  • There was a bug where Enterprise-J MSD was upside-down that Scot considered worth noting. It's fixed now.
  • There was 7 of 9 statue at STO booth.
  • "Don't be weird and creepy to the statue."
  • Another "Evil Terran faction" question and answer: most people don't like playing genuinely evil characters.
  • Anniversary stuff is pretty massive, requiring all people.
  • Mike thinks we'll love what they're doing.
  • Cryptic have year worth of story already planned.
  • Romulan missions are being updated right now.
  • "We are looking into the data for making lock box and phoenix stuff account wide but don't have anything to announce."

    it isn't 'technically' possible to port CO assets, it IS possible, because it's already been done; the engineer cover shield is a direct port from CO​​

    Expanding on Kael's comment regarding the Infected Manus queue. Here is a transcript essentially word for word exactly what he said. Some of it is very troubling.

    The bolded bit definitely makes you go "Huhhhhh!"

    Also some points I will make my own comments, which are in italic.

    We removed infected manus from the random TFO system because Manus doesnt hold up to our current "uhhhhh" standards for quality in terms of TFO. It is an interesting TFO, we didnt remove it from the game so you can still play it with your friends if you want to get together and play it.

    "Uhhhhh" But there is alot of left over game design elements to it that we wouldnt design a TFO with nowdays. That the fact that there is no and we discussed this while I was playing it with Jesse ummm, theres the fact that theres no checkpoints in the entire level, so every time you die you have to run for like 10 minutes from the main level. We would never do that these days.

    "Uhhh Kael. Agreed that Infected Manus spawn points definitely need some work. Or at least some additions. However, to say there are "No checkpoints in the entire level" is an outright lie.

    Ummmm, the fact that when you are fighting the final boss if you die you get locked out of the room until everybody dies and there’s instant kill jump puzzles in there. Ummm alot of that stuff is very old school game design that we just wouldnt do nowdays.

    "Jump puzzles are fine, thats called a challenge Kael, not the black plague. Especially since they are in the "advance queue". However i agree the shield could use some work. Potentially copy the shield from Hive ground where someone can interact with a console to lower the shield to let someone in"

    Ummm and isn’t the intention of the random queue system where your suppose to queue up with your friends and play you know a couple of queues and have a good time and not be struggling, Ummm, I think that because random queues are pick up groups by default like that is kinda what you are getting into.


    "Struggle? The community could see that as saying "Anything that is a challenge needs to be removed cause your friends might struggle"


    Ummm, we dont want to have anything in there that really requires alot of, like, deep communication and pre-planning and strategy. So Manus is still in, ummm, you can still play it with your friends, you can still get groups together to do it. Uhhhh, but, its, its not really the right queue for a random TFO system.

    (I don't mind delays when they're working on things with plans to complete it when it is done & I'm looking forward to the Breach event but I'm still enjoying the KM event too I really like that go go go fast round)

    (He also very briefly responded, notice I don't say answered, & a bit dismissively too about the JH LTS not having a specific shuttle)

    (It always was more challenging, sometimes annoying, when done as a random/PUG so that is understandable so I guess this current place for it is a good compromise)

    (Don't like the answer but I appreciate the explanation & with that effort require for that type of return I frowningly understand)

    (I found that short story hilarious & glad Mike retrieved his bags & hope the lady received hers too, he should've placed some ST items in it imo)

    (That's impressive & I'm sure it will contain even more Discovery content & content for the new Picard as well. Glad to hear about the Romulan missions, & hopefully more, I still dislike what Cryptic did with all that mission shuffling & unavailability it was just a hot mess)

    (I really like them doing this, if they are, & understand that it will/would be a complex difficult undertaking in calculating what to do or not to do to maintain a balance of good health for the game itself & us players with Phoenix probably being easier than Lock Box/Promo)

    Romulan missions being updated as we speak? Be still my heart. Soon as that revamp is out and the missing Klingon War missions get sorted I plan on blitzing some new characters.
