As per title.
It seems the folks at Cryptic have taken to Twitch instead of these official forums to deliver news about the game.
Can we get a new section here, tied in directly and instantly to any Cryptic Twitch posting, so those of us not on social media can get the information too?
Thanks!

The forums are the place where everything should be posted, whether on Facebook, Twitter or Reddit, especially for those that do not want to use multiple platforms to track news. This is after all the official site!!
Lack of information on the 'official forums' is sadly a long standing trend and one that Cryptic has so far shown absolutely no interest in correcting.
I support the OP's request, but I know it will fall on deaf ears. I very strongly dislike the current model of relaying information through live streams, but if that is the method they're going to use they should at least post links to them.
I know that @somtaawkhar and I aren't exactly best friends, but credit where it's due.. he and @baddmoonrizin are pretty much the only sources of news passed on from livestreams at the current time. When they don't have time to watch the stream, no one gets any news.
Stupid system.

Also, in the last month Kael has made 11 comment type posts (not just posting a news article) on reddit:

Guess how many he has made on these forums? None since July (again, actual comments; not just posting news links).
There are also a number of devs that post on reddit that never use the forums. I guess my point is, whether we like it or not, the forums are no longer "the" place to discuss the game. Things have changed, and they wont be changing back again.

These forums haven't always been very friendly towards devs. But I'm a little confused with their obsession with Reddit, as that community is not particularly fond of the devs either.
Yeah except I've been here from before these forums existed and they used to post and pay attention om their own forums. Never did it remotely appear "toxic," whatever that word actually means. Sure, there was anger at times and devs need to see that and understand it, and realize it isn't actually personal.
If someone can't understand that people get angry and mad and don't communicate effectively via text only communications then I don't know why they'd be part of an MMORPG. In fairness the devs themselves don't need to post here, that is what the community manager is for, someone who should have been hired to sift through the frustration and anger and find the kernals of truth and translate that for the devs.
Beyond any of that, though, posting information or links to information on the forums is just basic effort! There is no rational reason for me to ever visit reddit or twitch or twitter when the game has its own website and forums.
The forums were on fire.
normal text = me speaking as fellow formite
colored text = mod mode
Especially the T6 ship announcement. Large amount of the forums massively overreacted and demanded to know why their T5 ships were being made obsolete. Many also wanted a free upgrade to T6 for the ship they had.
The forum was the most tolerable under Trendy.. she actually posted here and interacted with people and they responded by being far more civil then what we see today.
When people feel ignored, they tend to amp up their reactions in an attempt to get noticed, you see a lot of that around this forum and it's the result of the fact that the board is ignored by the people making the game. I'm not saying the board was perfect, that was never the case (nor is it the case on reddit) but it was a lot better then it is now.
I am not saying it's ok for these people to insult the developers, I am only saying I understand the source of the anger. Personally, I would like to see our Community Manager interact with the community far more then he does. They also need to do a lot of work on passing along detailed and correct information to the player base. I believe those two things would go a long way toward changing the overall mindset around here.
Ci sono tre tipi di giocatori:
- quelli a cui non va mai bene niente... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
- quelli che sono talmente imbesuiti da credere a qualunque cosa i dev dicano, perfino che la luna è fatta di formaggio... e vanno sul forum a trollare;
- quelli che credono a quello a cui è giusto credere, sono d'accordo con quello con cui è giusto essere d'accordo e sono critici con quello che non va;
Yes the T6 anger was rightly justified. T5 ships were $25 a piece, still are. The non-premium and well loved T5s like the Luna couldn't upgrade, upgrades cost extra $$ and royally screwed over people like myself who use a different ship for each character, and the amount of free T6 ships was exactly zero until the Kobali cruiser, or the Breen carrier, I'm not sure which was first, but they were close together.
They also introduced the starship traits of course, and so you either got one from a new T6 ship, the Delta recruit event, or you didn't have one, because leveling specializations at the time was far slower and obviously only per character.
Furthermore they had JUST released the T5 Intrepid and then a couple months later it was the first T6 ship released outside the Delta pack. So people who bought the T5 version, then the upgrade token to T5U it, to suddenly find out their favorite ship had a T6 version a few months later, they had every right to be livid.
They were very greedily grabbing for wallets and purses at the time and everyone was understandably pissed. If Cryptic wanted to crawl in a hole and die from the outrage, that's kinda the point, for people to be able to accurately express just how dissatisfied they were.
That is a lie and you are a liar! I have never seen a single thread closed on these forums for any reason whatsoever.
Furthermore; I have never seen a single person act in an unreasonable or inflammatory manner!
How you can live with yourself, spreading such falsehoods is beyond me!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go an extinguish my pants.
Or maybe it's just I find reddit's uncategorized, infinite-scroll format to be so uncomfortable I haven't scrollled far enough back to find where the discussion is.
They are not lying, you need to read more threads. There have been a lot that have been closed due to toxicity.
Er... I, was... being facetious. If the pants on fire thing, did not give it away.
I caught that right off. Gave me a nice giggle that I desperately needed
As for the rest, I fully agree with @foxrockssocks: both the timing and the way they did things did nothing but suggest they were indeed greedily grabbing at wallets.
That people, even now, are still saying that's not true is baffling. But to each their own.

I agree completely. Delta Rising was a perfectly normal content release. The complaints were a blown-out-of-proportion overdose of the usual whining about having new things to do in the game by people who don't want to play that shows up every time anything new is added.
First of all, I am not good at detecting sarcasm in online communication and I tend to miss the cues due to have an autistic spectrum disorder, wish people would be more understanding. Secondly, I even missed the cue at the end. You could have just said they were being sarcastic instead of using a meme. Thanks.
