Invalid Engine Readings on Sci Pilot Escort

olixioolixio Member Posts: 69 Arc User
This is happening on my: Vulcan, Female, Federation, Science Officer flying an Icarus Sci Pilot Escort. I can’t tell when it actually happened, as I recently went back to switch her out from the Risian Pilot Corvette to the Icarus.

When I’m parked Sol space, or inside Jenolan Dyson Sphere, as I’m trying to reconfigure my Icarus Science Pilot ship, the Engine Subsystem readings are not accurate. For example, let’s say for that I’m using the Terran Task Force Engine and Warp Core, my reading would be at 56 points to Engines, in Attack Mode. That’s accurate and to be expected with current build. However, while I’m in Sol Space, it will read properly for a while, and then, intermittently, it will jump to around 70 points to Engines. Changing maps might, or might not reset it back to normal. Now, when I go into actual combat, the readings accurately read 56 to Engines, and everything behaves normally during combat, so it would seem. Either way, when I arrive back to Sol Space, the Engine Subsystem number will usually reset to read normally. However, let’s say I decide to use a different Warp core, engines, or consoles. The numbers for my Engines, intermittently either accurately read for bit, or they won’t accurately read and remain inaccurate till I change maps, or do a Patrol to see where my readings land. Other times, if I simply change one thing, inaccurate Engine readings come up. It’s crazy and it is getting near impossible to make any adjustments to the ship.

Now, I’ve tried this on my Fed-Aligned, Romulan character, who’s currently in the Icarus Sci ship, as well, and she doesn’t seem to have this issue. So, at this point, I can only assume that whatever this bug is, it seems to be specific to my Vulcan that I created back in 2013, and maybe related to the fact that she used to use the Risian Pilot Corvette [T6] and recently switched back to my Icarus Pilot Escort. Or, it could linked to that, and the last update. I can’t tell, but, I know this is happening. Thnx.

Are you hitting full impulse at any point when you're noticing these changes? You may have already thought of that one but I still have to ask. If you are then the full impulse setting dumps all of your power into your engines to do its thing. Once you stop the full impulse it will slowly go back to normal. If you're in sector space, generally the stats you see there will not be entirely accurate as sector space and ground maps distort your space numbers and won't give you an accurate reading.

Also are you sure you're not receiving some kind of temporary bonus that could be throwing off your numbers?

Nope, I'm not at full impulse. I'm totally stationary. As I've mentioned before, I had this character since 2013, so I'm quite aware of the differences between getting a Sol space and Sector space reading. Also, aware of bonuses from other ships that may arrive next to me. This would be valid, in theory, if that were the case. But, it's not, because if I see something unusual, I always navigate away from others, then sit stagnantly, as I exchange things. So, really, this has to be a bug.

Another thing to note is that every so often, the speed of my ship is dramatically affected, between certain updates. I can tell, because, one moment I'm sailing around, and the next, I'm sluggish, despite being in the same build. This is a pattern I'm starting to notice with certain updates. Not all, but some of them.

… and no, I don't have any Doff Mission commendation bonuses. What I'm getting is inconsistent Engine readings and wonky performance in the starship, despite throwing in more engine power on this particular toon.

Update to this: I switched back and forth from the Icarus Sci Pilot Escort to the Risian Pilot corvette, and the readings were “seemingly” more consistent on the Risian than they were on the Icarus Sci Pilot. But, then again, this problem seems so intermittent, can’t really tell.

Update, again: Romulan Fed Science character, in the Icarus Sci Pilot Escort is significantly faster than my Vulcan Fed Science character despite having swapped out engines and warp cores to match each other's builds. It's a bug, and between the engine readings being inaccurate and trying to fix the problem, it's not working.

Vulcan is still broken, I can't get a good reading on engines and speed in patrols is slow despite entering high engine levels and swapping out engines and warp cores. Thnx

I can confirm this bug, as I experience it on several(!) of my chars, too!!

Thank you, if I'm not the only one, then it's quite possible that others may suffer this issue as well. Hence, the developers can go about providing ways to fix the issue.
