I like most of the new missions, but I can't stand this one. Who thought it would be a good idea to add one of those annoying mini games DURING combat? I have only played this mission once. Is the mini game still there? Please get rid of that. It wrecks an otherwise cool mission!
I don't mind the minigames, I've gotten pretty good at keeping up with them. I also like that mission, it's fun. I mostly do The Ninth Rule, simply because it's near the Andoria system when I leave the Mycelial Crisis mission. So it's nothing to toodle on down there and arrest Madran. Again. I never get tired of arresting that particular Ferengi.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything.
You cant play the minigame during combat anyways, so the minigame isn't during combat.
you can if your set to autofire on anything... the clouds all respawn and the respawn time is pretty short. clear clouds do game, clouds repop and you shoot... sort of sucks you need to change your settings. they really need to make it so when your channeling (activating stuff) you wont stop just cause your firing weapons or you get hit... pause the action but keep going afterwards. these interrupts are a pain, ie closing anomalies or portals.
My weapons are set to autofire, but they don't unless I press spacebar. Some of my other toons will autofire on anything. Not sure about why that's so for some, but not for others.
That being said, I haven't had any problems finishing the minigame when I click on the asteroids.
The only issue I've experienced is trying to open the minigame window and having the game not acknowledge I did so. Usually, I can click on it a second or third time and it opens. I haven't tried opening the window while in Red Alert mode though.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
Usually, after scanning the first target, I fly to the left, just above that asteroid to get just far enough away from the clouds. Then with the second, I fly past and to the right, again to get just far enough away from the clouds. On the final, I continue flying forward to get out of the clouds. I don't do my fighting inside the cloud banks.

Personally I avoid the mission too. I don't understand the logic behind the minigame and combat status. There is definitely something weird with the way it closes thinking you're in combat when you're not. What that is I don't know.
Minigames are obnoxious and utterly rhetorical in missions. You don't get anything for doing better in the game like more information or some buff for the rest of the mission, and conversely no penalties for failing badly at the minigame. They simply exist to have a more complicated version of "press F to interact." That's not a good way to use them.

My weapons are auto-fire but only after I press the space bar.

Well, Bok almost won.
Madran is like Gargamel of Trek.
