Most Popular C-store ships w/ coupon

vegeta50024vegeta50024 Member Posts: 2,335 Arc User
Not sure how many people saw this, but here's the infographic that Cryptic shared today:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ED0vUGCU0AA5G2x?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

Biggest Takeaway from this is that none of the ships are Romulan or Klingon (since probably at the time they compiled this, Romulan ships being cross faction was not yet a thing, so people looked for ships that they could use the most).

What do you guys think of this?

Interesting. I'm planning to get the Romulan temporal ship once it stops being "new" but I already own so many fed ships I'd need to create another dozen characters to fly them. I own quite a few Romulan and KDF too but not the temporal set.

#2 - T5 Avenger is probably from people who own the Arbiter and want the Variable Auto-Targeting Armament console to complete the 2-pc Deadly Maneuvers set: https://sto.gamepedia.com/Deadly_Maneuvers_Set_(Avenger)

The thing though is that the Arbiter is the one that was available via the coupon, so I think that anything that's listed in their T5 skin are due the people probably flying the ships in the T5 skin.

D'oh! You're right, I trusted them to get the graphic right and follow the C-Store listings.

The Arbiter is a great choice for a ship to fly, as well as having the Emergency Weapon Cycle trait for any other ship.

Yeah, because it's Cryptic.. it's full of type-o's and misprints as usual.

Avenger should be Arbiter.. the Avenger is a T5 and can't be purchased with the free coupon. Also the last ship is clearly a Hestia and it's labeled Jupiter.

Cryptic doesn't proof anything.. they just slap it together and release it.

That being said.. the results are interesting indeed. I really don't understand why anyone would use the Coupon on the Jupiter though.. what's that about? Doesn't have a good console, doesn't have a good trait, BoFF seating is mediocre.. the only 'selling point' is that it can launch Calisto's which are the worst hangar pet available.

What a waste of a coupon.

I have no idea how they just keep posting announcements that have obviously never been proofread. Even when point out the errors or provide clarification text, the next time that template is used it still has the errors and/or vagueness.

It's as if they are trying to improve on the Number of Posts metrics.

I suspect alot of things on this list are on it cause people wanted them but couldn't justify paying for them. half the list can use canon appearances.

Some people might want to fly a fed carrier and ignore all of the better non-fed true carriers and 2-hangar other-ships out there.

I own so many ships from purchases and events that I can see myself "wasting" a coupon on a theme ship for one character that I'd never buy. I'm tempted to get the Kolasi Siege Destroyer just because it looks like it could have flown in from Babylon 5.

I am one of those people that intentionally bought the Jupiter, mostly because it was a ship I wanted, but didn't want to actually use zen to purchase it.

I still haven't used mine, I don't care for the remainder of Federation ships I don't have. I was thinking of getting the Romulan tactical miracle worker ship and using the remaining consoles from the Federation variants I already have with it.

To me that ship is what the D'Deridex should've been in terms of stats, it almost looks like a similar kind of style.

I've not desided which of my chars I want to use it on so I've not used it yet and what I pick depends on the toon I use it on, as for the pic only one that surprises me at all is the Chronos since while it's a nice ship (I use it on my main atm) it's definetly "non-traditional" while being too UFP looking to mask it easily as klingon or romulan (Unlike the raider that can be made to look klingon or romulan with the right shield visuals).

It's one of the few ships that is not in any bundle and therefore won't forfeit a bundle discount when bought separately.

i can see why the gagarin in nubmer one, it has the absolute best trait for a fed beam based captain. Nothing comes close. just endless Befaw.

The rest don't really compare to it, There are a few ships there i get a few i don't but players do things based on different thoughts. Not always smart thoughts but thoughts none the less.

I would have assumed players would have researched traits and then made a choice, but it seems more like they made an emotional choice. Except for the ones that went with gagarin. Best choice.

Just to be clear, while I was surprised to see the Jupiter in the list, I don't intend that as a slam on anyone that used the coupon on the Jupiter. I also own the ship, I bought it the weekend it came out (with Dilithium, but still) because I wanted those 'super cool' Callisto Pets. That was on me, I have played long enough to know better.. always wait for something to be tested before you buy it.

Any T6 ship is a viable ship, they can all complete the game content.. I don't mean it like that. I was just surprised to see a ship that compares so dis favorably to many others claimed so often.. that's all. If you used the coupon on the Jupiter, that's great.. and I honestly hope you enjoy it. I don't 'ship shame'.. if that's a thing.

It's just the ship I least understand out of that list of pretty good ships, that's all I meant.

I didn't go after a KDF/Rom ship because I'd need a character to fly one of them, or I'd rather have the whole bundle. I got the Yamato with my coupon because I have no interest in the other ships in the bundle, and on the presumption that I could build a new character to fly it if we have a temporal recruit rerun, but that apparently won't happen any time soon.

Personally, though, nothing in that graphic interests me aside from the Narendra (and Yamato of course) but I intend to get that in the bundle with the KDF counterpart when I get it. The Arbiter I already have.

It should be mentioned, though, that the Cardassian ship and Chronos are completely cross faction ships.

Would have been interesting to see how that graphic would have looked had the Romulan ships been unlocked when most people got their tokens.

I suspect the Gagarin would still have been number one and rightly so (I'd have chosen it if I didn't already own one, and I encouraged my partner to choose it for his ship), but I suspect there would have been a definite Rommie presence - it certainly would have changed my choice, for one.

If I were to speculate - It's basically the only true Starfleet Carrier in the C-Store, and if a lot of people are "married" to flying Fed ships, it might simply be the one ship class they haven't really gotten their hands on. Anyone saying the ship isn't that special might be just another reason to use a free coupon rather than hard-bought Zen on it.

I picked the Temporal Dread, which all of my characters can access.

    Solid choice.

I was more generic.. I got the Tactical Andorian Escort just for the trait. I already had the Engineering Variant (Kuthar) and that one is the one I wanted to fly, but I wanted the trait and the cosmetic options from the Thozyn so I got that.

I have nothing to get. I'll have to wait until something new comes out and then wait for it not to be new. If it's a dual pack, I'll get one right away with the 50% coupon and then pick its mate up with the free Token when it's not new.

Good trait, but what an enormous piece of cow dung otherwise.
Then again it may just be a poor match for my play style.

I picked up the Chronos during the double-sale where $20 would get a T6 because it seemed to be a good ship and it is cross-faction so everyone can fly it, which is probably a big factor in its popularity in that infographic.

Like many others I am saving the coupon for either the Romulan or the Dominion temporal ship (though I have been looking at others on the side, including one of the Dewan toilet brushes since it is somewhat reminiscent of Stingray with the spinning brush tail with "bubbles") but I doubt I will spend it until the Temporals come out of their "new" status.

Romulans are my favorite characters overall and so I will probably get the Kholhr (and it has enough touches from all the factions to work for them all style-wise), though since I have given up waiting for the Dominion to be expanded to include Vorta and experimented with Vorta based on the Romulan "alien" generator (they work out reasonably well) I might just get the Vanguard temporal to use with them (since I probably would not buy it for cash) and pick up the Kholhr or another Rom ship during the next double sale.

The Intel Assault Cruiser is a good ship, it's big issue is that it's bridge officer seating kinda makes it a one trick pony. As an Aux2Bat Beam Build Cruiser.. it's pretty good. For anything else.. well..
