How do I HIDE the Astrometrics and "RED ALERT" Buttons ?

timelordq#8922 timelordq Member Posts: 9 Arc User
I don't enjoy the RED ALERTS, so normally it's easy for me to visually tune out the big huge red button that appears.

AS of today, there are four of these big huge buttons.

It's cluttering my screen. So I need options to remove this element since I can't HIDE it where - logically - one would think this would be adjustable in the "REARRANGE HUD" section, but it is not.

Here's a glimpse of what this is doing to my screen:

I don't use Astrometrics - as it breaks the illusion to me of being in three dimensional space by displaying a floor to space, and while I also no longer do RED Alerts (they're monotonous and as a player since the beginning of STO I've had my fill of them) - I cannot turn off this HUD element.

This leaves me with one option. To push the Element to an area of the screen that makes it less annoying..

Still looks like TRIBBLE, right?

I need better options.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on where I can tweak these settings - maybe in an INI or setup file to remove this and other unused UI elements?

Thank you in advance!

As a follow up note, my goal here is to eliminate the RED ALERT and ASTROMETRICS only, not other interactions SUCH as "Beam TO Starfleet Academy" , etc..... So having the entire element hidden is clearly not a workable solution.

Good luck on finding those Doff Assignment Chains on the tippy tip of the border between two Sectors or the old Sector Blocks without Astrometrics.

I no longer do those either. The assignments haven't changed since the inception of this universe, and successes create no tangible variance or impact on the universe itself with negligible benefits to you and I as players. So I just typically select whatever assignment is available to constantly keep my DOFFs occupied and to create a meager source of income.

You'll laugh at this. But I was curious about how many unique assignments there were, with a goal of getting a success or critical in every one of them - and to see if I could notice trends with the assignment results and the DOFF I assigned - in my effort to find ANY reason to justify going out of my way to find assignments.

So I documented every assignment I took on, with the officer and assignment, like this:
    assignments_1.jpg

And then I created a pivot table to alphabetize the list to see, at a glance, a total count of unique assignments and which ones I needed to try again....
    assignments_2.jpg

In any case. I've done probably 99% of the total assignments available in the game to a SUCCESS level, when I just got bored of documenting - and seeing absolutely no impact on the universe around me, I now just take local missions and focus on revenue generation since there's no real compelling reason to finish the assignments that never change nor do they ever impact the universe around me.

    OCD, I know.

Now have you see something different when taking assignments?

you can't hide this window "low priority interaction", I tried to find a solution some time ago, but there is none.

Clearly the spreadsheet has duplicates, something I wasn't motivated too greatly to figure out - I was just more interested in seeing if there was a correlation of assignment effort to the universe in ANY way (that's the way I would have designed the game)

For instance, it would be cool if missions or space area became available to explore ONLY AFTER you've completed certain assignments, and even then, like Star Wars Online and the path of the JEDI, it would be really cool if these things weren't documented and easy to find.

Nothing is impossible. You and I just haven't discovered a way to achieve it yet. Hopefully we'll find someone who has found a way to do it it and we can both benefit.

They also want a way to make the RA buttons to go away.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.
I have come to the conclusion that I have a memory like Etch-A-Sketch. I shake my head and forget everything. :D

Yes, I know, and they've been told that.

They've apparently decided there must be a way and they will find it.

Personally, the buttons and astrometrics don't bother me one bit.

If you could hide the interact buttons, you wouldn't be able to click on them in missions, either.

Although I do believe they should just ditch the red alert buttons completely, since the alerts are just queues now. They don't have alert buttons for any other event queue why have them for these?

It is especially spammy when they are doing all four Red Alerts.
