In-Game Brightness/Gamma not changing with slider

I am hoping someone can help me, my in-game brightness/gamma slider is not working anymore. I have plenty of other games that this works, but not STO.

I have tried re-starting, rebooting, updating drivers, resetting the graphics settings, turning off bloom, turning off lighting; I have even uninstalled and re-installed the game. But nothing works.

I have tried this both from the settings menu and the brightness calibration screen.

All that happens when I try and adjust the brightness slider the game lags/skips/freezes for half a second and then it slides... but NOTHING changes.

Can someone help?!

    Sometimes this is taken over by the Graphics adapter and the software that tends to install with the driver.
    It might be worth looking there to see if that's the case.
