I'm just a day away from getting one or the other. I'm just curious if having both makes any difference.
The armor doesn't seem necessary since the EV suit has the same stats. Does having both change the stats
or appearance in any way? I'll have the full Resolve set either way. I'm just curious why both are available.
The armor is not needed for anything at the moment because it does not offer anything the EV suit does not offer. The stats are identical.
While I remain puzzeled with cryptics dessision making here as well I’m as equally grateful for it. Makes any decision what to get here so simple and cheap:
-> Only get the Environmental Suit and always have it equipped. Should be the best item for PvE for that slot in game now.
-> Turn off its visuals (right-click on the item when equipped to bring up the menue).
-> Activate the EV function when needed on Nukra or in Space; deactivate elsewhere to enjoy your own costumes like you always do.
-> If you like to unlock both new costumes from the respective 3-piece set only getting the EV suit is enough as well by the way. It unlocks both and you can customize as you like then.

To this day I see no reason why a Ground Set should cost 5 P.Stachios or whatever other Elite Mark for the other Reputations for each piece. The Space Set is 5 per. There we are talking about a massive Warp Core, Impulse Engines, Ship Shield system, or a massive Deflector.
The Space Weapons Set is 2 per piece, which would include a large Beam Array, Cannon, Turret, Torpedo Launcher, or Console. The Ground Equipment Set should be no more than 2 Elite Marks each.

the choice given to the player, this is why there are an armor and ev suit. To reply at your question, there are not differences, but you can buy both just for your own pleasure or because you can buy both, this is what i have done.
Who cares if it's Disco themed gear, as long as the stats are good I'll use anything the game offers. [/quote]I swapped my Ico set to the Disco set and other then loosing 300 hp, it didn't seem like I was any less useful so the stats seems good enough (should be noted that I wasn't able to upgrade my armor (well technically the EV suit) quite up to the level my Ico armor was so the HP loss should be less then 300 once I've gotten it fully upgraded).
A friend reminded me yesterday that he heard somewhere that cryptic could be about to make dedicated EV suit slots in the near future.
If that is the case releasing 2 identical items here would make more sense and performance player would end up getting both versions after all if nothing better is released till then. Yeay! Always bet on Cryptic peeps.

Delta Armor doesn't come with a helmet, and I don't believe the Iconian Resistance Armor does either. MACO looks like it should work as EV capable, as do a couple others. However some don't like the Omega Force armor, which has a bit more of a SWAT feel.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

No reason that should be an obstacle. Just have an overriding EV suit appearance that enables once you click on the EV part. This is already how the Discovery armor works if you don't have any EV suit unlocks. Enabling the EV suit just overrides your visual until disabled. Helmet just.. poof.. appears.

I'd just like to see Elite Marks go away. We know they are worth 100 marks so just increase things accordingly and lets all save the bank spaces.
Because that would be the same as removing EV suit requirements completely?
Not that I have any personal objection to letting us go into space in our pajamas. In fact, I would like the option to turn the EV suit visuals completely off, even when it's "active," so I could better roleplay the invincible space wizard.
But the mechanics of the EV suit requirement are an interesting gameplay element that I wouldn't want to lose. It's rare as it is for any content in the game to have any requirements at all.
Well, today my Discovery Character got to Tier 6 in the Discovery Reputation and unlocked the discount for the Account. Needless to say with 46 remaining P.Stachios and over 6k Marks, I purchased everything in the Rep. Ground Set plus the Environmental Suit, Space Set, Weapons Set, and the two Kit Modules. I had 0 P.Stachios left but still over 3,500 Marks. I've got a bit of upgrading and equipping to do, but hey, I've nothing else to do with those Elite Marks anyway.

Wow. You must have been diligent on that rep then. Very cool.

You are very welcome! I had the same trouble 3 days ago until I finally checked it all out. Enjoy your new EV suit and the remarkable costumes.
