Can Burnham's CQC environmental suit be tweeked to look more like the armor?

I'm really working hard toward getting the CQC environmental suit for all 3 of my captains. I love the specs and the set bonuses. Unfortunately I don't like the pictures of the suit I've seen online. I currently have the Solanae Enforcer, and it looks awesome. I like Burnham's specs, but it looks like it has a big bubble top and skinny looking arms and legs. I read there was a costume unlock once all 3 set items are obtained. Does that let you customize the look? Even just getting it to look like the armor would be an improvement.

Yea, as with all rep costumes u end up getting a new category at the tailor or the respective parts become customizable under uniform.

What will likely be exceptional here is that the moment you “activate” your suit it will always put a default look, only matching the size of your character, over whatever else you are wearing.

When it is not activated (but slotted) you have the option to disable those default visuals and have your own, fully customized look, displayed.

That default look is actually what I'm talking about. I know I can disable visuals when the suit isn't activated. I do that with my Solanae Enforcer. It is the look of the suit itself when it is activated that I don't like. It mentions a "costume unlock" once all of the set is acquired. That doesn't sound like just disabling visuals and I hope it's not. The EV version of this suit makes it look kind of like a frog (large head and small limbs). If I could even get it to look like the armor it would be a leap forward-pardon the pun.

You would be correct, the costume unlock is for your standard 'non EV Suit' look. It will not change the look of the suit when the EV Visuals are enabled.

Currently, there is no way to alter the look of an EV suit while activated. :disappointed:

I have the full set and used the costume unlock to make an EV suit look, but when I activate the suit it over writes parts of it, namely the helmet, over armor parts, and the boots. It turns into a weird mishmash of my custom look and the default look.

so when I look at stats of the CQC Armor and Environment suit in STO Wiki for the Burnham ground armor set, the stats look the same other than the env suit having the usual thrusters. So what am I not seeing?

The stat screenshots seem to show they have same armor resistance, same bonus effects, etc. And either one can complete the burnham set. So if the env suit has all the stats plus can be used in space/hostile envs, why would someone spend extra rep marks & dilithium to get both?

Is there some other difference I'm not seeing? Perhaps for someone that wants to display armor they have diff appearance?

I have something similar with Terran armor visual and the old TOS style space suit. When I activate the suit, my character is in terran armor, but with TOS space suit helmet on top (which is fine with me...I like the unique look).

Thanks everyone. I've actually seen 2 different EV suits for S.T. Discovery online, and I think the STO version is the better looking version of the two. I should have it in less than a week, so I'll see. Thanks again.

The first EV-suit is based on the one seen in season 1 while the rep set seems to be based on the season 2 EV suit, as Discovery itself had more then 1 version of the Starfleet EV-suit.

    Ok, now I’m confused. :|

Is the visual costume unlock of the discovery ground reputation set any different if we either choose the armor or the ev suit part of the set here or has just the discovery lobi suit entered the discussion as well now?

I tend to play as economically as I can so still need a few days until my main unlocks the rep project discounts at tier 6 to see for myself.

The suit unlocks 2 versions, one like season 1 and one like season 2, the visual that shows when activated is the less armored one. And I didn't know there was a disco ev suit in the lobi store.

Something I noticed is that EV-suit doesn't show up at all on certain outfits (for me it was the MACO outfit, the fancy dress get (off-duty outfit) and the summer outfit, the lights show up but the outfit remains the same as before. for other outfit there was 2 variants of the EV that showed up (though the variants were very similar).
