New Faction Thoughts: Pirate/Mercenary/Explorer

I haven’t seen any recent posts covering this, but I basically just wanted to spitball some thoughts around and get some feedback on this idea. I’d love an independent faction that’d cover the rest of the Star Trek mythos… namely the people we encounter with their own agendas not related to the bigger galactic struggle. We could pull in species and ships only seen once in the shows. Scavenged and retrofitted ship mixes where we’d see a Klingon ship retrofitted with a Singularity Core, or ships abilities designed to disable an enemy instead of outright destroy them.

Player missions can still be played as characters could be answering distress calls, diplomatic partnerships, hired as a bodyguard or first contact missions. So, there it is. Thoughts?

    The game is designed to support two main factions, Fed and KDF, and everyone must join one or the other eventually.

    The most you'd get would be a TOS / Jem'Hadar style mini faction starting with a few introductory episodes before joining one of Fed or KDF, then playing through the unified story episodes.

    There is no chance that Cryptic will create a bunch of new content that can only be played by the minority of players that want to create a mercenary captain instead of a Fed or KDF.

    That said, you are free to role play to your heart's content.

    One of my captains is a 2409 Mirror Universe defector from the Terran Empire who escaped to our Federation bringing along his Paradox ship and mirror crew. The lack of a Terran faction did not stop me from creating him.
