In my dream, the devs finally decided to fix their game by reducing the impact of every piece of gear, every skill point, every trait from whatever source, every specialization point, even weapons higher than standard issue gear to a single percent of their current value. So +25 damage resistance rating became +0.25, +30% damage became +0.3% damage, and so on.
They also reduced the number of enemies per mob, while increasing the HP and damage of each individual NPC so that the mob remained as strong as before, but usually consisted of a single ship now.
And my dream made the prognosis that this made players, including myself, enjoy the game again. The game felt more "realistic" (or more "trek-like", if you prefer), more like actually serving in Starfleet. Every ship counted. Tactics were developed (or re-applied from the old days) to beat the odds... it was great.
I just wanted to tell that story, no need to discuss it. I certainly won't, don't worry.

Perhaps some arcade or strategy games? In any case something without game sided long term motivation or character progression in direct comparrison with other players. There should be many such games around.
