Game seems to be currently changing directions towards a more bums of seat event based style so bear that in mind as & when the sale comes along. Also at this stage of an mmo's line an LTS becomes slightly more of a gamble.
i paid for the lifetime sub about 1 month after release i think, still havent regretted it. mind you i play in spurts, so is handy for me, login and play for a solid month, then casual for 3, then break for 3-4, and then solid again for 2 months etc.

An LTS is of course always a gamble how long "LT" is. Actually this again depends on whether you'd like to continue playing the game once the in the end inevitable switch to maintenance mode happens (i. e. game will continue but no new content) Apart from the fact that maybe not boredtodeath but others have said the same to me when I got it back 5 years ago (it'll last 2 years, 3 max), you need to see what you really want, because it is not only the stipend of course. You got three race unlocks (use depending on personal preferences), two ships (not that great but okayish IMO), one shuttle (good, but I dislike shuttle, so little use), minor costume unlocks (meh), loads of QOL (inventory slots, bank slots - this will really add up if playing multiple toons), some XP bonus (nice but in the end not very meaningful), well, look at the list and decide for yourself.
For me it would have been worth it even without the stipend, but with the caveat that I would have had less toons (for which the inventory counts) if the play time were limited.

It takes 40 months to get your money back via the stipend at the sale price, just saying, I'm sure you can work out the subtle message.
At the sale price, it's worth the amount that you pay, based on what the prices would be for the items individually, the moment that you buy it, assuming that you play at least one each of Federation, Klingon and Romulan, and also have some desire for the contents. The stipend is just a bonus. $60 for a cross-faction 3 pack of T6 ships, $50 dollars for a theoretical cross-faction 3 pack of T5 ships, $15 for 3 small craft, at least $33 for the outfits, at least $10 for two species unlocks, $40 worth of account bank slots. Oh, look, already at $208 without Android BOffs, inventory slots, regular bank slots, character slots, ship slots, BOff slots, et cetera. If you add those, it's probably worth the price with no sale.
This is an MMO, not a Star Trek episode simulator. That would make for a terrible game.
Is the Lifetime Sub the only way to get Veteran Rewards now? I have a bunch of rewards on my account from being a former monthly subscriber, but my daughter just recently started an account and it looks like she won't be able to get any of these rewards without the Lifetime Sub, is that right? I am mostly interested in some of the costume unlocks (Oddy/Bortas Long Coats/Rom Dress) and maybe the ships - are there other ways to get these?

Really surprising that no replacement for the monthly subs been brought in yet. I was expecting a neverwinter style zen based thing to arrive but so far nothing has been hinted at to replace that particular revenue stream.
