I was just looking around on my account info and was wondering where the subscrition page was. I have been a free to play player for some time and was wanting to go ahead and sub up, but all i can find is lifetime sub. Is that the only way you can sub these days or am I missing something.

Yes, they dropped the monthly sub except for those who already had them.

If you want to lifetime sub, wait for a sale to get $100 off. Should be one coming up coinciding with the Summer Event.
Now a LTS and loving it.
Just because you spend money on this game, it does not entitle you to be a jerk if things don't go your way.

Cryptic dropped monthly subs like a year ago or something. Partly, it was because the profit margin to support them just wasn't there, especially in a game like STO where a monthly sub isn't really all that different from playing Silver.

(There were, I am told, other reasons as well, none of them terribly nefarious.)

If you get the credit cap unlock and some account bank slots that takes the place of subscribing for a month. If you're a past subscriber you might already have that.

Take a look at the Lifetime benefits list and decide whether they seem worth it to you, then buy the LTS on sale if they are.

I'm happy with my LTS for both the "big" benefits like veteran ships, Liberated Borg race and the android DOFF, but also for the convenience features like extra retrain tokens, extra ship and dry dock slots, extra dil refinement, and the +5% XP gain for leveling up new characters.

Ok, I understand all that and it is all well and good. My problem with the lifetime is that I am semi retired, work a part time min wage job. I have just recently recovered from a massive heart attack and now seem to have a lot more time on my hands. So I was looking to spend a little more time in STO. Coming up with 300$ for a LTS is a whole lot more than i cam afford right now.

That's why we're advising you to wait for a LTS sale. They're then $199 instead of $299

Yep, that and to look at the list of everything you get and decide whether or not it's worth $200 to you.

There's nothing in it you need. Unlike some MMOs like SWTOR, free to play does not cripple your character. You can play all of the content, equip all of the gear, and there are no phone game play time restrictions like "your ship is out of gasium, buy 1,000 bukkets of it for just 199 foozies!"
