I'm trying to enjoy the new content but being disconnected every 5 - 15 minutes is really hampering my fun. having stable servers should be the first priority for any online based game.
Often when someone posts a thread like this, the problem is either with their ISP or the many links between their ISP and the servers. It's almost never a straight connection between your PC or console => your ISP => Cryptic servers.
STO is the only game I have problems with, I can play other games like SWTOR for hours on end with little to no lag
Well it could be because SWTOR servers are in a different location then Cryptic servers (or they can afford multiple servers in different locations). Unless you can prove it's the Cryptic's servers that are the issue, it's more likely that your connection is the issue.
In your OP you say you're getting disconnected from the server. In your next post you report lag. So, are you actually being disconnected from the server, or is it just lag that is your complaint? Either way, I'm currently in-game, so the issue isn't the server. The fact that there isn't a mass reporting of server disconnects also indicates that it's not the server. There are several hops between you and the Cryptic server and any one of them could be your issue. There are several different hops between you and another game's server. Just because you can connect to another game with no issue, doesn't mean that there's a problem with Cryptic's server. It just means there's nothing wrong along the route to that other game server. In future, please refrain from creating threads with vague titles as it's against forum rules. Thank you.

I've been on since 3pm BST and it's now 12am, not been disconnected nor seen an SNR once.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
There's a thousand and one different things it could be when reporting stuff. More often than not it's between your rig and the servers. There's a couple of things to keep in mind when dealing with this stuff. It's not a straight shot from your rig to their servers. When going from your rig to the Cryptic servers there are several hops along the way between different data centers, sort of like a digital mail system of sorts. Along that route between your rig and their servers is usually hundreds and even thousands of miles of wire. If there is an issue it will most likely occur in that wire or at one of the data centers. I recently had an ethernet cable itself go bad on me of all things. If it's happening like clockwork there could also be some kind of software or program running in the background as well.
As for SWTOR servers, I'm actually a founder over there and have been with that game since day one. You also need to keep in mind SWTOR is produced by EA and Bioware. EA has ALOT more cash to throw at stuff than Cryptic does. Different locations will matter in this case.
When you say you're having issues, in one instance you said lag, and in another outright disconnects. Do you mean lag, disconnects or both? I ask because those are 2 completely different issues. We don't care to help where we can but we need more info first.

I also have this problem since the last patch.
It is laggy. Then about every 15 minutes I get server connection issues. Then the dreaded server timeout error.
I've been getting disconnected constantly the last few weeks (started about halfway through the last TFO).
I don't think it's Cryptic's servers, but it is their ISP and how it connects to other ISPs. If my (and others) ISP connects perfectly well to every other non-Cryptic MMORPG on the planet, even servers in SEA, then it's probably not a problem with our ISPs, but on Cryptic's end, even if it's not their servers.
I mean, you say EA has a lot of cash on hand to have better quality internet, but I also play Atlantica Online (run by a company named Valofe, based in the Phillipines, after nDoors sold it to them)
But anyway, regardless, Cryptic isn't going to change ISPs, and maybe even couldn't if they wanted to.

Less often it really is a server issue.
I played this morning and wasn't disconnected once. I had some rubberbanding, but not enough to make the game unplayable.
Sure, sometimes I'll get disconnected every few minutes, but if I wait a bit the connection eventually stabilizes.

Usually when you disconnect on Map Change, the fix is to go into your launcher and disable 'On Demand Patching.'
Have you tried that?
