Thoughts about Lifetime Sub Awards

I've been bouncing this around in my head a bit. My lifetime sub has been very good to me. Free Zen, free ship, and access to the Captain's Table, etc.

The free ship is where I've been focusing some processing power. The Chimera, Peghqu’, and Daeinos Heavy Destroyers, while fine ships, are focused more on the tactical track. I'm a tactical officer myself, but what about the science and engineering lifers?

One of the other perks of the lifetime sub is a free Vice Admiral Ship Token. Since the Heavy Destroyers are now available as ZEN or Fleet ships, what if we were to combine the "free ship" and "ship token" into something I'm calling a "refit token" for lack of a better term.

The refit will take a ship of a captain's choice (regardless of tier, or class), and refit it into the equivalent specs for a T6 class of ship that fits the career path of the lifer. For example, take an Engineering focused Galaxy Class, and convert it into a T6 science ship like the Nebula for a science lifer who loves TNG, but needs the specs of a science ship for their captain.

Or one of my personal favorites, take a Light Science Ship like the Oberth, apply the refit to turn it into a T6 escort class vessel like the Ushaan.

To use a term I've heard the devs bandy about, it would be an "advanced space barbie" token.

That doesn't sound possible, tbh. I don't understand how you'd be able to completely change a ship from one ship to another.

Honestly... I think the Captain's Table needs a bit of a revamp. The only real thing it gives us besides seeing some story mission NPCs again, is peace and quiet. It literally has nothing that isn't available at ESD or any other major hub. In fact... I think in a couple cases it doesn't have as much as some hubs.

The Heavy Destroyers are not available to the Zen Store or Fleet Store. You MUST be an LTS to claim these ships.

I was just thinking the same recently. It's a really nice spot, but it definitely needs an update. And a reason to be there.

Have to agree, as there has not been any reason to go there for a very long time. Neglected by Cryptic to say the least.

There's not a transwarp to get there which would be a pretty simple addition to make and the nebula access was always miles off the warp in spot so again a tweak there wouldn't hurt.

So... anyone planning on a Lifer party there? lol

I'm pretty happy with the Manticore, but I can see OP's point, to an extent. It sounds more like it would be easier to add a free T6 token rather than whatever weird "transformation" OP suggested - this would allow OP's complaint of getting a free T6 tactical ship (although arguably it can fill multiple roles) to be answered by getting a free T6 of any type.....

Except that most T6 ships are revenue-generators, so either the choice would be limited, or Cryptic would have to create two other Veteran-reward ships for people to choose from when they get the reward. I don't see this happening. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say, and a free ship (technically two, Chimera and Manticore (technically 6, two per faction)) *in addition* to a free T5 ship is fine with me.

I am, however, fully in favor of the Captain's Table getting a little something more, or a transwarp token.

I could have sworn there was a slightly powered down version on the fleet store.

I also agree The Captain's Table could use...something, but I know not what.

The ability to change the look of a ship does exist with holoshrouds. I know that ends on combat, but how about this refit token instead could be like a semi-permanent shroud that give you the look of whatever ship you want (even in combat). It could be a console, or universal device that gives your ship of choice the appearance of whatever you want.

That way, the appearance would be only cosmetic.

Could maybe have that available from a vendor at the Captain's Table to bring this post full circle? I know, not much in the way of content or improvement of the Captain's Table.

Maybe...I have multiple lifers in my fleet. And I prefer the place to the VC ant farm that is current DS9.

I haven't used it on a Science toon yet, but I can say that it is a really good ship for an Engineer as well as Tactical. I don't have any problems with it at all. When I need to power, it is there. And when I need the tanking ability (while not like the expensive T6 ships), it offers that. The only time I have a problem with it is when I get melted by NPC torpedo spreads and salvos on a constant basis. They still melt any T6 ship I have through the shields as if they are not there.

Only rarely ever do I get into a TFO at level 65 where the NPC's torps are not OP. But I have also seen expensive T6 ships melt in front of me when the NPCs hit them with the same torp spam.

I am looking forward to testing it on my new Science toon I have been working on for a bit now. But I think it will be a decent ship for them as well. Especially since it works so good for Engineering toons.

I've used the Manticore on a sci toon and I have to say it's excellent there too. Sure, it doesn't have Sensor Scan or a second deflector, but it was still fun to fly for him.

The Manticore is nice for Tac, Sci or Eng. No, it doesn't excel at any of those three, but it does kill things, no matter who is flying it. And that's all I care about.
Now a LTS and loving it.

Thanks. Now I know my Sci is going to have some fun. I was not sure how it would do with a Sci toon.

I am using the Anniversary ship as I level them up. And once I get the ship trait off of it, I will switch to a new one. Not sure which C-Store ship I want for them yet. Bit I have a few ships to play with till I decide.

Any race or class can do any type of ship and make it work. It's more a question of WHAT it does and how well.

Hello - Just curious but I bought LTS today and was wondering at what point can I pick up the Manticore-class Heavy Destroyer? I'm guessing I need to be Admiral rank? I don't see it saying that anywhere it seems like I can just fo get it but I do not see it at the ship vendor.... it would make sense as its prob over powered for a level 6 Lieutenant.

    Thanks!

sounds like a t6 Nova as a lifetime ship would be good. but what does Cryptic do, make you choose between the cruser the manticore or the sci, like you did at what is it rear adm with the three hero retrofits?
