Not sure if this is by design or a bug, but aren't the random Innovation abilities supposed to become activated by simply using three matching BOFF abilities in any order? Like if it is TAC - TAC - SCI, you just need to activate two Tac and one Science ability?
If so, then this is not working with Specialization abilities. My MW has only two Science slots and both are using MW specialization science abilities. Using either of these does not seem to satisfy the requirement for Innovation. If this is by design and you have to use basic abilities, then this is stupid, because why have specialized stations and a special ability you can't utilize?
Or, am I missing something and these are passive abilities I don't have to click?

So I'm being told that a BOFF, when using specialization abilities will not trigger the requirements because they are suddenly no longer a Science officer. I thought the point of Specialization was to enhance abilities, not to change their career completely?
So why have a Specialization bridge slot with only two abilities that prevents the use of a ship's special ability if you use it?
Makes no sense to me.
