Looking at the Malachowski picture I thought it was just a type of Miranda so I looked it up. Apparently the Forerunner to the Miranda is the Hoover class so it is strange that you didnt throw us in a Hoover class and save the Malachowski as a premium ship to put in the inevitable AoD pack. Looking forward to the new episodes though
Do the new Vulcans actually have some fine space trait?
Will there be a rerun of AoY?
How many new missions are there?
How many of the new missions will be playable by our existing toons?
THANKS Very much looking forward to this.
PS - I need a holographic Lorca BOFF
Will the "Discovery Era Starfleet characters" be considered a new "faction" in the way the Agents of Yesterday TOSlings are considered a faction (or as I prefer the term f(r)action, heh)?
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

Another new starter character? I barely have the time for the ones I already have.
Damn you CBS and your obsession with Star Trek's Days of Future's Past rather than its future. Oh well at least we're about to get Picard back.
"Rise like Lions after slumber, In unvanquishable number, Shake your chains to earth like dew, Which in sleep had fallen on you-Ye are many they are few"
How many new missions are there?
How many of the new missions will be playable by our existing toons?
They stated some time ago that the initial release of AoD will have a new tutorial and two new missions. that are both cross faction, that deal with us encountering T'Kuvma's sister J'Ula, and leads to the attack on Starbase 1, which will be a PVE queue.
When the anniversary comes around we will get a third mission dealing with what happened to the ISS Discovery after it crossed over to the prime universe, and later there are going to be two more missions, one dealing with a story for the planet Pahvo that was made for the TV show, but they didn't get around to doing, and another that will explore Landry's backstory, and explain why she was such a hardass.
And apparently this is all for starters, as they plan on rolling out ongoing AoD content. I enjoyed Agents of Yesterday and I have five Temporal Agents that are among my primary characters in this game. I have no idea whether the Discovery-era toons will be considered a new faction, but do hope that this is the case. Now, if only they would say whether a Kelpien option will be a part of the character creation?
I'm of two minds on this addition to the game, and also on whether we should get a recruitment event along with it.
Part of me dreads that the game will now have parts of ST:D in it, since there are things ST:D got so wrong. Another part of me though actually likes other parts of ST:D so I do look forward to them being in game.
And while a recruitment event does seem likely, I can't help but wonder exactly what will happen with it. If we get a brand new recruitment event, that'll be the second (new) one this year and that might lead to burnout for some folks. If we get a rerun of the Temporal Recruitment event, which would be the second rerun this year, that could definitely work as well. But for some folks who are maxed out on character slots, that would mean they would not be able to make a new AoD character since new character slots are only given out for first run recruitment events. Unless of course an exception were made this time.
And obviously, if there is no recruitment event at all, some folks maxed on characters would again not be able to make a new AoD character and run the new low level/tutorial content.
Overall, I'm looking forward to AoD, but only just barely. The great thing though with STO is, it's not ST:D. While there is a lot of hate for ST:D, STO doesn't need to focus on ST:D exclusively, only the setting. Hopefully that'll be enough of a buffer.
Hello. My name is iamynaught and I am an altaholic.
I'm at peace with this. On the one hand it's getting me involved with Star Trek Dumpsterfire, which is something I never expected to have happen or ever be a positive thing while Burnham lives. On the positive side though, The Malachowski Class is a cute little ship that I can respect in the morning, and I don't have to sully my hands with direct contact to TRIBBLE or Burnham. I can live with this.
free char slot & recruitment drive event... plus a nice big ship bundle pack. I am good to go. Thou experience has taught me to wait for a bundle sale to get the ship pack.
I still don't understand how this will tie in with the current timeline of STO. Are they gonna do another time displacement thing and send the AoD characters to the future or are they gonna stay in the past?
"We must question the story logic of having an all-knowing all-powerful God, who creates faulty Humans, and then blames them for his own mistakes." -Gene Roddenberry
Given that the average arc in STO is about 8 missions nowadays, we can expect about 3 more after that.
Your timeline might prove accurate, but as Cryptic indicated this is the first time that they've been able to partner with an ongoing current Star Trek series, so like it or lump it; Discovery may break the mold if their second season helps settle fan discontent and they are approved for a third season? STO could roll out AoD content even beyond your guesswork. Time will tell?
Does this mean new recruitment event? Or perhaps just a rerun of AoY one?
Well apparently they weren't planning to run a recruitment event when asked shortly after AoD was announced so I would say if we do get on it will be a rerun of the AoY one.

The blog mentioned Discovery era races...
Seeing as how Starfleet was more diverse in Discovery than what was shown in TOS... we might get more than just the TOS races.

Of all the things that's wrong with Discovery, why have a problem with Burnham?

It's pretty obvious that there will be a time displacement plot device. Be it a mycelial network accident or whatever they choose.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.
I've seen some Youtube videos that claimed Discovery wasn't such a great success in terms of revenue, and that CBS will have to invest more now instead of letting Netflix pay the production bill. So first of all I hope that the show will become/remain a success, as that means more content for STO to add.
I am concerned however that STO will now also be looking backwards, instead of moving forward. I had hoped to see an episode dealing with the Galactic Union sometime soon. Or episodes that have us make peace with the Voth and Undine, establishing formal relations and visiting their planets/space and so on. Things that matter in 'our' time instead of a conflict centuries ago that we already know was ended peacefully in the end. Another war with the Klingons just doesn't sound that interesting to me, we've been over that countless times.
The content itself, if @somtaawkhar 's summary is accurate, sounds interesting though. I'd definitely like to visit Pahvo in-game. And yes, what @Captainwells said: I hope we can create Kelpiens. And please give them an interesting trait, not just a passive boost that you don't really experience. (As I've said before: the trait of the Caitians with their increased jump heigth is what makes a species interesting imo.)
Tilly is more interesting, she constantly put her foot in it (she was also the first main character to use the F-Bomb in Trek). I hope to see how Tilly improves.
Lorca was played well by Isaacs, he played the viper perfectly.

If I remember one of those videos that AmbassadorKael made with Al (I'm bad with names....), Al was interested in a question that asked if AoY recruitment could be run concurrently with AoD recruitment so people who didn't like AoD could still make AoY characters instead.
I'm personally planning to make a AoD Saurian (esp. based on the second season pics that were released, and if regular Saurians can get an option to look like an AoD Saurian like how the Gorn can look like a snoozleberry, I mean a TOS Gorn after playing through the tutorial in AoY) and swap out a regular Vulcan of mine.
If AoY recruitment was going to be reactivated during this time, I'll finally make the Tellerite that I was going to make when AoY last ran.
I'll give it a look I guess although I haven't seen anything of this new show, besides I've set myself the boundary of keeping within the prime universe rather than all these alternate ones. It's getting very complicated to keep up with now.

Despite what some 'fans' may say, they do not own the IP, CBS has said repeatedly Discovery takes place in the Prime Universe. Visual differences aside, which some folk just can't get past, there will be a rational explanation for the hairless Klingons (seriously, just add hair and you get your TNG era Klingon!)

Don't bother trying to convince people of that... Their so hung up with it not looking EXACTLY like TOS that it doesn't compute. WE know it is, but some people will refuse to accept it because its different.
