One problem after another tonight,(all described) including getting support from cryptic

I've been trying to use my account tonight, which has many characters 35. I must switch between them frequently. It began when I was loading one of characters and the game just plain disappeared from my screen, no error message or anything, just plain disappeared. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with 64GB of ram.

So, I tried to sign back in and was able to, but the problem this time was that was after selecting a character, it would never finish loading that character. I tried twice on the same character, then on a different one, with the same result. I thought what I might do is uninstall Arc, which I did. Then I reinstalled it.

It appears I don't need arc to play STO, I have an icon that goes directly to the launcher (the same one when you press play in arc) I would have reinstalled this, but I don't know how. When right clicking the icon one of the options that pops up is Cryptic Game launcher. When I right click this it tells me the path name to it, which is: Program Files (x86)/Perfect World/Star Trek Online_en but there is no perfect world folder in my start menu. I don't even want to bother with arc, just another thing that can go wrong, but I thought I might need it.

I think would I did next was (for some reason) click the launcher button, and this time it actually worked, I got it and did a few things with a few characters, but then the same problem happened again with the program just plain shutting off with no error message.

My current problem, and the reason I can't play the game is when clicking the launcher, it says patching, and never finishes or even starts

I tried to get help from cryptic on their support site, signed in with my account and it send a code to my email address. I put in the code, clicked sign in and was told the page had expired, and try to refreshing the page. I did so, and was told now that it was not redirecting properly and to check my cookies! I deleted the cookie for arc, went back, put in password, got another code, used that code, got the same message that the page had expired, refreshed it, then got the message AGAIN that it was not redirecting properly! I'd like to contact cryptic but can't!.

At least I can post here, for one thing.

    Have you
    Tried disabling On-Demand patching and patching the full game first? (Advisable)
    Tried verifying from the launcher?
    Tried not using a server from the launcher options?
    Tried safe mode from the launcher options?
    Tried deleteing the game cache manually? (This can be done manually only)
    Check your game log files for anything as that may give a clue to whats happening..

    You are having a Crash to Desktop problem (CTD), and could be caused by many factors, not just the game client… first and foremost you have to check drivers... those pesky drivers have a tendency to update, and sometimes to roll back to previous ones (specially on Windows 7), so check the GPU ones first, and then start meddling with the came client, BTW, the game have been a little wonky for loading characters in some ISPs (including mine), so check that too…
