thought this was all nerf'd with the torp revamp? only the targeted npc gets the effect/proc and all other torps in spread just do reg dmg (no proc).

I've seen up to two or three extras on a torp spread.

Usually...plasma (specifically rom hyper plasma and PEP), missles (the kentari ones...because fast recharge is good for some things), or photon (specifically the the grav torps...because mini grav well in a spread is fun). Depending on what I wanna do. Also other maybe used for reasons...but those are the ones I use most.

Gravimetric is nice, but personally i am quite fond of the Enhanced Biomolecular High Yield.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Most times quantum, but that mirror phaser torpedo launcher is damn good also. Now I can run my phaser beam escort to the hilt AND have a phaser torp launcher?! SCORE.

except those are not really torps since they do eng dmg and not kinetic. for dps your better off just using another energy weapon in it's slot.

Maybe. But you can use them for torp spike damage.

Everybody who knows the show / movies, knows that Quantum Torpedoes are newer technology also puck more of a punch than Photons.

With that in mind, wouldn't you go with Transphasic, then?

For me, I use: Temporal Disruption Device, Plasma Emission, Neutronic, Terran Task Force in the front, Wide-Angles in the rear (or Omni-Beams if I am using a hybrid).
Since the new level cap Transphasic is a complete waste of time. I used to use a Transphasic boat but the damage has not scaled over the years to match the other weapons. My Transphasic do less damage though shields then my Quantum, take x3 longer to take down shields and do x3 less damage to hull. There is just no point in Transphasic unless you are building a themed build.

I was referring to the quoted portion where he specified the power level of newer technology of the shows and the movies. In the those, it would be Transphasic Torpedoes, unless I am mistaken. I provided a separate response suggesting better in-game choices.

On my Gamma Recruit I am using Quantums, in fact the Wide Arc variety. Where I do use Photons, I use the Kelvin Timeline ones. You can't beat that 4 second cooldown (unless you are using those Rapid Fire Missiles).

That's what my old tac human is running.

    My Engineers are running...

I basically have seven tac style consoles buffing that torpedo and the energy weapons around it. The spike damage is quite delicious.

Just beware of Aceton Assimilators, because they LOVE Energy torps.

Both - Kelvin Timeline Rapid Reload Photon torps. and Quantum Phase torps.
  • lordsteve1lordsteve1 Member Posts: 3,492 Arc User
    Photons all the way.

Either full Kelvin because they looks and sound awesome and the rapid fire is simply best suited to my style of flying i find. I always have a torp in the tube ready to shoot and don't need to worry about cooldowns too much, leaving more space open for other goodies like survival and speed boosts.

Alternatively i'll slot Gravimetric, Lukari, Terran, Enhanced Biomolecular because all 4 of those have a set that boosts the damage of either photons or torps in general. And the extra effects they cause are just icing on the cake.

Photon torpedoes have a faster reload (6 seconds), while quantum torpedoes pack a bigger punch (reload 8 seconds) It really comes down to preference and what ship you're using. I use Photons on my Excelsior and Quantums on my Sovereign
Nothing is impossible, merely extremely difficult.
