Missions that require you to use a ship (i.e. A Step Between Stars)

Is there any way we could adjust the level scaling of these missions to reflect the fact that you are flying a ship with a set BOff skill layout and generic gear? Alternatively, the ships we are forced to use could have more firepower. I'm not expecting something over the top like in Renegade's Regret, but I would appreciate being able to destroy ships in a reasonable amount of time. It should be easy to balance as the mission is single-player only.

I just did the mission again on my Jem'hadar, and I was sorely missing my cruiser the entire time. It was like I was papercutting them to death. Every other part of the mission was actually pretty fun and it encourages replay, but the ship combat was painful. I was running a cruiser / tanking build, for reference
