Omni-directional Chronometric Polaron array cannot be equipped after latest patch.

For some reason after the patch I logged in and noticed it wasn't on my build, I checked all my other ships... finally looked in my Overflow bag in the inventory and there she was. Considering I've upgraded it to Mark XV it's kind of annoying, but if you try and equip it you get "Cannot equip more than one of this item". Its the only one I have on the build, but I've also got the Morphogenic Polaron Energy Weapon... which is really more of a turret than a beam weapon, but that's the only thing I can think it's butting heads with, everything else is generic. But I'm pretty sure this is a bug... I mean it worked fine until the patch.

Morphongenic Polaron counts as a 360 beam array if you just have beams in your ship and use fire at will it will act as a beam. That said it was mentioned in previous patch notes that you can't put 3 polaron 360 beam weapons in the rear and 1 will be forced out. I m sure you can switch the chronometric with the morphogenic.

    Morphogenic Polaron Energy Weapon:

This weapon is now in the equip-limit category that other 360 omni Beams share, non-crafted.

As a result of this equip-limit change, in the instance that the player has multiple of these items equipped during this patch, one of them will be moved to the overflow bag.

The Chronometric Polaron Omni is flagged in such a way that it cannot be equipped on a ship with other non-crafted omnis, such as the Advanced Inhibiting omni from Gamma rep or the Morphogenic omni from the Gamma Quadrant story arc.

The issue here is that the Chronometric omni is part of an ordnance set that is used extensively in both science builds and Polaron tactical builds, but it is not following the general rule for omni-directional weapons, where you can equip any two of the same energy type, crafted or not. For whatever reason, the Chronometric omni breaks the rule for omnis by not allowing you to equip it with one other non-crafted Polaron omni. As with omni-directional weapons of other energy types, you should be able to equip the Chronometric omni with either the Morphogenic omni or the Advanced Inhibiting omni.

This appears to be a bug that has been frustrating quite a few players that I play with on console, and should be addressed. If it's intentional, perhaps Arc/Cryptic needs to relax the rules governing omnis, and allow two omnis of the same energy type to be equipped regardless of whether it's crafted, rep, or mission sourced.

The rule on omnis is that you can only have one rep/mission omni and one crafted omni (damage type doesn't matter) with the morphogenic weapon counting as a rep/mission omni. It has been that way for all the years that I've been playing and it is doubtful that it will ever change. That rule has been discussed to death in these forums so really, why necro a thread over it ?

You're right. You can only equip two omnis of the same energy type, but not two of the same energy type that are rep/mission sourced. For some reason, I thought that mission and rep omnis were not categorized together, similar to crafted.

That said, it may have been discussed to death on these forums, but I only just started posting here a few days ago, despite playing the game for some time now. And regardless of how many times it's been brought up before, it seems to me that it needs to continue getting brought up because the rule to limit rep/mission omnis is stupid. I can agree with only allowing two of the same energy type, but they should be any two regardless of whether they are rep, mission, or crafted. I am far from alone in that opinion.

When I'm able to create my own threads, I'll be sure to post my opinion in the appropriate sub-forum.
