Five of the twenty nine threads on the main page have been closed by mods. A 17% ban rate seems a tad high to me!!!

The Hollywood allegations affecting Sulu (Takei) and others is apparently verboden here, you're not allowed to quit STO, you can't discuss balance issues, and you can't discuss how to (not) play Mirror Invasion. Did I miss anything? Anything else not allowed?

Will this one be tolerated?

Topics were closed because 'I quit' threads are generally flaming, as well as the Balance Issues one, but the 'How not to play MI' was simply encouraging people to play in a manner that was not in the spirit of gaming.

And discussion of moderation of threads is also not allowed.

Badmoonrizin has some really cool moderation pics that he uses when censoring or closing a thread. Each one is themed around a particular STO faction and usually has a clever pun or joke meant to explain the infraction and soften the blow of being forced to submit to the Cryptic power-structure. I would like each of these to be included in an easy to understand thread pinned to the top of the forums home page.

This kinda feels like a setup for me to do this, but...

I actually wasn't going to saying anything more on this, because "discussion of moderation" is actually a subject that isn't allowed, but I came back to this to clarify a few things:

All of the threads mentioned in the OP, actually broke some forum rule(s) before being shut down. The subjects themselves were not where the offense lay. Most of the time, it's not. Most of the time, it's the conduct of the individual(s) within the thread that gets it shut down.

Personally, I prefer to let conversations happen: unaltered, uncensored. (And I like to take part in those conversations, too, but I don't do that as much anymore, because that little green title out to the side of my name tends to skew people's perceptions and the conversations in unintended directions.) BUT, there are rules and guidelines that I'm supposed to uphold and enforce as a moderator, and that I will do to the best of my ability.

If you have questions, comments, objections, suggestions, you all know where I am.
