How are things

I played STO a little a few years ago but mostly I played NW. After all the stuff that went on there I was very unhappy and I had spent a couple of hundred on the game. My main issue was all the stuff you could buy for ZEN was bound and you couldn't sell it at auction for in game currency and that the lockboxes had no regulated odds, I was told recently that china passed a law that one in every ten had to be a winner but I guess thats only in China or BS, any thoughts

    I'm doing fine thanks :)

No, China passed a law that the odds needed to be made public, not that 1 in 10 $1.25 packs needed to include a grand prize.

For STO for getting a ship it's 1 in 250 in lock boxes, 1 in 100 for R&D packs.

is that true everywhere? sorry and i misquoted the quy , said 1 in 10 had to be a winner but didn't qualify what winner meant and as usual the info that odds had to be public turned into 1 in 10, what about binding? Are keys bound yet?

I meant the story being passed on and on turned it into 1 in 10

Yes, "winner" just means get something. And every lock box gives lobi + something, just not a ship.

Keys are not bound, unless you buy your Zen through Steam instead of Arc and do not wait for the Account Guard to clear. That's to prevent fraud (hijacked accounts, stolen credit cards).

Ships can still be sold on the Exchange, that's where I get my lock box ships.

There is no law governing lock box chances at all governing this game. China's lawmakers have no influence either. The chances of winning a top tier ship are 1% approx. Not 1 in a 100. That means you could open ten boxes and win 10 ships, or open a million and win none. The chances do not change with the number you open....period.

The only time things bought with Zen are bound are if you use an item, or you purchased your Zen through Steam for the first time (this is for security, yours and the company's).

At the end of the day, purchasing lockboxes means you will always get something. You are buying the license to use the box for a random and guaranteed item, not the entitlement to a ship!

There are things in the C-Store that can be sold on the Exchange. If you were thinking you can sell C-Store starships on the Exchange, then I don't know what were are thinking.

    - The most popular item from the C-Store that is sold on the Exchange are Master Keys.
    - You can also sell R&D Packs, and more importantly Promo R&D Packs which has a chance to win a promo ship (whenever it is offered)
    - Delta Alliance Duty Offer Pack
    - Fleet Ship Module
    - Ship Upgrade Token
    - Various "Point" and "XP" boosts
    - I am sure the are a few other things as well...

I don't bother trying to open Lockboxes or Promo R&D Packs in the vain attempt to win the T6 Starship. I open them to get Lobi Crystal and I do not open many of them. I mostly buy the Promo R&D Packs to sell on the Exchange; they can be sold for more EC per Zen (or per Dil) compared to Master Keys; generally at least an extra 40% EC per Zen ( or Dil).
