Wow, that seems harsh. And annoying to those that get them and want to sell them. Players in chat going "WTS ship choice, blah blah blah" Or just means you open them for the Connie, since that's the big $ one and all the rest of the choices go extinct on the Exchange.
I wonder what the reasoning for that change was.
The change was due to money. They don't have enough of it, and this change will help them in some way.

Also curious why such packs were made bound until opened, and what will happen to packs existing in fleet banks that some people no doubt use for storage.
This should also apply for all new packs going forward, not existing packs that people have gambled and/or farmed a ton for.
It also makes for very risky transactions having to open the pack for a trade without a guarantee the other party will accept. A big point of a virtual economy is ensuring people are happy for the rewards of so much time/money/risk put in, by making them tradeable in case the bigger prizes weren't exactly what they were after, and to keep it alive by acquiring items from everything to ensure steady trade through balanced supply and demand.
