Say, what color is the Martok disruptor? I'm tentatively looking forward to when Brushfire lands on console so I can have a full spread of disruptor omnis aft, but I'm trying to keep to a green color.
Someone else may say if one is better than the other, but I use both on different characters and they both work fine. Elachi has a chance to ignore shields and some damage resistance, and Coalition has a chance to lower the target's resistance to disruptor damage.
If using cannons, the Elachi has that cool crescent look, while the Coalition disruptors have that nice blue color.
You can really just choose the one you think sounds better.
What's really the most important is making sure all your tactical consoles are boosting disruptor damage. Well...besides having fun
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

You can only have at most two omni-beam arrays and the Kinetic Cutting Beam from the Borg reputation. The omni-beam arrays are limited to a mission reward and either a lockbox or crafted one.

Honestly... either one is good for a Disruptor build.
As mentioned, Elachi has a chance to ignore defense, and Coalition can slap a 10% debuff to Disruptor damage on a target rather than the 5% all energy resist debuff of standard Disruptors.
Right now the only limiting factor is the price of them on the Exchange unless you happen to have a few weapon boxes from the lockboxes.
If you pick up a Galor or Keldon there is also the Spiral Wave Disruptors.
I have one Character that is using Elachi, Coalition, Martok, Nausican, and Spiral Waves. Sometimes I throw in the Heavy Bio-Molecular Disruptor Turret aft as well.

I don't see why Steam Trek can't be a thing. Someone already made Stone Trek. (It was extremely funny before all the episode parodies were removed.)
Since disruptor consoles benefit every type of disruptor, there's no reason to not disruptor rainbow that sucker.
Since the Coalition Disruptor proc is a stacking reduction to disruptor resistance and since that proc can be applied once per firing cycle, I reccommend at least one fast cycling Coalition Omni Beam or Turret on any disruptor build.
For a coal-fired Starship look no further than the Kar'fi. Always belches a trail of smoke as it moves.

But it's sweet to see my forward disrupter cannons in action. When I first slotted the Coalition turret on my ship I was surprised how much of a difference it made on otherwise hard targets. Of course, most NPC ships melt in the first volley, but if one survives the Alpha, the Coalition procs begin to make a difference.
