Depends on what you are looking for, I suppose. The Terran is more offensive while Obelisk is defensive. If you want a bit of a boost to your weapon damage go with Terran. If you are blowing up a bit too often, then the Obelisk can help.

If you upgrade the Terran to ultra rare then it will get the [AMP] modifier which will give your ship a +3.3% damage bonus for each subsystem that is over 75. The Obelisk gets the [Trans] modifier when upgraded to ultra rare which reduces the cool down on the transwarp drive by 50%. Both of them will get the [W>S] modifier when upgraded to epic; that adds a +7.5% of weapon power to your shields.

if you are using the Ancient Omni and only got one or two power levels at 75 or higher go with Obelisk,if not use terran.

also keep in mind the obelisk is a mission reward which means it's free. you can run it for a while than decide if you want to try the terran. of course if you already have both you can just run with one for a while than try the other and pick which ever you prefer.

if I stop posting it doesn't make you right it. just means I don't have enough rum to continue interacting with you.

Hard to compare the two, the Terran core is one of the top cores in the game, probably top two along with the plasma cores from the Fleet Spire. The obelisk is a very old, outdated free mission reward.

And Obelisk Core stats are pretty weak, overall. Sure, you get fixed AP dmg bonus, but you'll need to slot the Ancient Omni beam for that, which also isn't stellar, and you'll miss out on all the good stuff from the Terran Core.

P.S. Terran set, at 3-piece, plus Iconian shield, is one of the most defensive combos ever devised.

[AMP] isn't OP any more. It's 3.3*4 = 12.2, but that's not the actual amount of bonus damage. It gets added to certain things, then multiplied by the other things. it used to be great because it was glitched to boost itself, so the benefit you got from it was more than it should have been. now it' about as good as half a weapon console.

I haven't acquired a Terran core, but use the Obelisk core quite frequently in builds, despite having other cores. I'd describe it as 'an old favorite pair of shoes' :)

If your going for the whole set, the Terran Warpcore is better.

I use the warp jump core on a lot of things just because I like that power.

This is what we call a SetA/Category 1 modifier, and you are completely correct. The more SetA/Cat1 present, the less this 12.2% boost will do.

Personally I like the Terran core much more than I like the Obelisk, but I would say with a rather large it depends to either, mostly because they serve different functions.

Energy weapon tac Captains needs power, which I think leaves three obvious cores: plasma-integrated from exchange, cheap ec option with mk 12 purples not much better than very cheap ones, so get a cheap one; Terran core for good lump of dil and rep marks; fleet spire core for dil and fleet credits, provided you are in a fleet and have permission to use fleet stores.

Engineers have a less pressing need for more power, but most will go for a power oriented core.

Scientists can always do with more power, especially if they are using energy weapons and trying to do aux bosted sci.

Roms in Warbirds NEED as much extra power as is going.

Look into getting a plamsonic leech from the exchange.

Leech doesn't give much extra power now. IIRC it caps at 7.5 to each system. Now if you use DrainX it can hinder opponents, and maybe soften their shield to make them die faster.

Terran core( warp core not sing) + 0-5 power per susbsystem, costs dil and marks and prevents use of high power transfer core
Leech +0-7.5 power per subsystem and eats a console slot

For a rom +17.5 can be a significant difference, then +2 from nausicaan beam
