So about those Cannon abilities?

So in this major space rebalance we had it makes me sad to see that Cannons kind of got the short end of the stick again.
We are still stuck with cannon skills ranging from Lt to Cmdr instead of Ensign to Lt.Cmdr, which of course still leaves cannon users at a disadvantage next to the beam "spam" users.
Battlecruisers especially suffer here as its "impossible" for them to Slot the top tier cannon abilities, while any cruiser with a Lt.Cmdr slot can spam away with BFAW III.

    While it's a bummer about the ranks of cannon skills they at least came out pretty much unscathed. FAW on the other hand got hit so hard that it's lower ranks aren't even worth slotting anymore. Only FAW3 is still viable since it dosen't completely wreck your damage output like 1 & 2 now does.
    While cannon stuff hasn't been buffed it has become a lot more viable because of faw's nerfs, at least on battle-/cruisers which have a ltc.tac seat. Buckets like the T5/u gal are pretty boned though.

    Seriously? How hard could it possibly be to simply just re-flag a trait as Ensign instead of Lt?
    If they hardwired something so basic.... I don't even...

    I mentioned this during the tribble test for the rebalance and that is what I was told. You have to realize that there is a LOT of legacy code in this game.

    "Legacy" meaning the source code is spaghetti, with no notes or comments at all, and the people who wrote it have been gone for 5-6 years now. C'est la guerre

    That's an excuse to keep you guys on pending between ships and buying new ships, reverting to old ships and after rerolling a build completely to realise escorts and raptors are too squishy with the exaggerated npc damage. And buy a cruiser again, fit beams. Then those will be nerfed. Then you'll switch to escorts, then they'll silently pep-up the NPCs again and there you are in a switch-play-spend limbo.

    Anyone think that cannons should be added for the Connie refit/other TMP era ships so they can have that electrical sound effect?
