Rick and Morty Season 3 Premiere

As an extremely cruel April Fool's Prank, Adult Swim just released the Season 3 Premiere. Currently it is available here, but I have no idea how long it will last. The rest of the season will start airing in the Summer according to the season premiere, but plans could change. It further proves that you don't mess with Rick and shows Rick's raison d'etre.

It was so good. It was like the opposite of an April Fool's prank where they gave the thing they said they would.

It is an extremely cruel April Fool's Prank. We built up a tolerance to there being no Season 3 and now they completely destroyed that tolerance. There is also the possibility that this is not the season premiere and they made a fake season premiere just for April Fools.

Haha true. But it was definitely a full on animated production, which is expensive and takes months to do. I'm confident it was the actual first episode since the writing/animation/seasonal arcs align. It just sounds like the season is in some kind of development hell because Harmon, at Sundance, admitted its progress being held back because of him creatively. My guess is they're sitting on a bunch of completed episodes and Harmon thought it'd be funny to do this (or a way to throw fans a bone). He must've wrote himself into a corner with this season. Maybe they'll be doing one of those half-season dealios to buy him some time.

And it looks like that link is no longer showing the Rick and Morty Season 3 Premiere.

I was slightly incorrect with this post. The Rick and Morty stream is playing a marathon of all Rick and Morty episodes in order including the Season 3 Premiere. Not sure how long this will last, but it could go on until Season 3 hits. However, the problem is that it might take hours to see the Season 3 Premiere.

I had an interesting theory based on this episode. What if Rick and Morty are from different dimensions? We already know that Morty's family lives on Cronenbergified Earth and he is living with an alternate family that seemed the same as his old family. So Morty is likely from C-137 since it is highly unlikely that Rick replaced Morty C-137 with our Morty as a baby, but we are not sure if Rick is from C-137. After all, Rick made it look so easy to find a dimension where they could just replace their alternate selves. Now on to what was revealed in the Season Premiere.
Rick reveals the day where he created his Portal Gun to a Galactic Federation Agent while inside a Brainalyzer. We see Rick as a happy middle-aged scientist that cares for his family that would rather stay with his family instead of joining the Council of Rick. His family is destroyed by a Rick and his younger shattered self builds his Portal Gun. Rick reveals it to be a fabrication instead of one of his memories, but we don't know how much of it was fabricated.

If it is true, then Rick left his dimension to find a new Diane and Beth where their Rick was killed. The reason why he left could have been due to his family's death changing him as a person and not being able to replace his old family with his new family. After all, could a widower fall in love with someone else that looks like their deceased wife, but has a few differences without remembering what happened to the original every time they see them or being irritated by the differences? It certainly gives motivation for why Rick hates the Council of Rick. Rick is the Rick that refused while the others accepted the deal.

So we don't know if the Baby Morty in his memories is Morty C-137 or even how many families he has gone through.
