Removed from group

Could someone perhaps explain this logic to me.

You disconnect when grouped, when you log back in you have been removed from the group and are kicked out of the scenario.
The part I'd love an explanation for is, why does this happen when there isn't a system for voting people out of a group for going AFK?
Star Trek Offline is currently online. We apologise for the convenience and are working to remedy the situation.

It's to stop people who have disconnected from ruining the instance for everybody else. I think you get a short window in which to return, but if you don't, you get replaced.

Because the game cannot differentiate between a leaver or a disconnect, whether intentional or not. I think people in the past tried to avoid 'leaver's penalty' by disconnecting. It's nothing against you.

There is a system for pre-made PvE's to kick people, it doesn't work in PuG's, which I wish it did so you can get rid of AFK'ers in events.

If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
