[console] NX and NCC reg

shadowwraith#9264 shadowwraith Member Posts: 379 Arc User
NX (put this on the c-store pls cryptic for consoles) and NCC registrations should be allowed on all federation ships regardless if the fed character is 23c or 25c

The NX registry was the 1st registry used on federation ships in the 22nd Century (there have been a few exceptions) followed by the NCC registry which started in the 23rd century from TOS right through to Star Trek nemesis in the 24th century and the Kelvin timeline.

currently

NX registry (only available on PC for those who have purchased the digital deluxe version) cannot be used on TOS chars

above poster must be on pc but is posting on a ps4 bug post, is his char bugged?

NCC registries are only allowed on ships acquired/bought by 25c fed characters as the registry fields are missing for 23c characters which breaks canon.

to the pc players that have commented about the NX, i'm on console and don't have that available.

EDIT: i stand corrected on the NX part, i looked in the services section and it wasn't there and according to the wiki http://sto.gamepedia.com/Cryptic_Store it was only available to pc for purchasing the deluxe version.. seems i was wrong after looking in the all tab in the ships section.

...apologies for the overreaction on that part

the ncc part still stands though.

I am pretty sure that NX is Experimental classification. The Excelsior was an NX, if you will recall.

And the Enterprise (of cause that one was pre-federation), and the Defiant...
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I'm fairly certain my 23c AoY character uses it on his T6 NX,... and his T6 Arbiter, and T6 Defiant and his,.. you get the idea. Once it's unlocked in the C-Store, it's usable on just about any ship. The only exceptions I've found is for ships that do not use or use a special registry prefix. Such as my T6 Vaadwaur Manassa.

XBox and PS4 players might be getting a different result. If that's your case, then you need to clarify which platform your on, because your experience there, certainly isnt the experience on PC.

Semi-canonically (as it's been addressed only in supplementary materials, not on-screen), the NX prefix was used for the registry numbers of United Earth Space Probe Agency starships beginning with the UESPA Star Fleet's first warp-five ship, Enterprise NX-01. The prefix remained in use, apparently, until the slightly-renamed Starfleet was made an official arm of the new United Federation of Planets; after that, Starfleet ships used NCC as a prefix. (Letter prefixes for ships is a tradition dating back to the ancient Federal Aviation Administration on Earth, back before the Eugenics Wars and WW3.) After the switch in prefixes, the NX prefix was officially reassigned to experimental projects (such as the Excelsior NX-2000, with its experimental transwarp drive, or the experimental attack craft Defiant NX-74205, designed to fight Borg before Picard's infestation of the Collective with individuality rendered her unnecessary [although she later proved her value in combat with both Klingon and Dominion forces while assigned to Deep Space Station Nine, in Bajor sector]).

Omg this is a console thread!? Cryptic PLEASE create a separate forum for console players, I'm tired of responding to threads like this, hell even splitting GD into "PC General Discussion" and "Console General Discussion" would be an improvement.

Incorrect about Nx being available on PC only for digital deluxe version. You can buy it on the C-store period don't need a "digital deluxe version". And it can be used on any ship except for certain ones like the Voth lockbox ships and so on.

I believe he was referring to the fact that, on PC, it was originally a digital deluxe exclusive back when the game launched. It has since been added to the PC C-Store.

On another note OP, could you please add [console] to the thread title

Yes, it is available on console. Look in "all" tab in the ships category. I'm using it on one of my ships right now.

You did, however, claim that the "holonovel" concept was "canon" - which it most certainly is not. Your headcanon, perhaps, but headcanon does not control (just as well, as so many of ours are at odds with one another).

Yeah, but the change occurred after they removed the experimental transwarp drive. It was then an NCC because it was now a standard ship.

If you got it with the original promotion it is listed as legacy, otherwise it's listed as a regular c-store item.

Once a ship is properly commissioned for duty it should receive the standard duty registration prefix for the service it belongs to, which for a Starfleet vessel is NCC. No ship that isn't an experimental prototype should carry the NX designation.
Wrong. Ships commissioned with an NX registry retain it. The Defiant was NX-74205 until its destruction and even its replacement got the NX registry.
