Combat settings

I used to be able to set it up so anything hostile that came into range of my space/ground weapons I would shoot at it even if it wasn't targeted, for some reason its not working so what am I doing wrong?

I am researching setting the game up to be played via an Xbox controller. Something I realize that I will need is an auto aim function. Does the game have any sort of feature where my character/ship can automatically target the nearest enemy in range without me clicking on it?

Yes but you have to be in combat for it to work its under the controls settings towards the bottom so you fire once and as long as you are in combat you keep firing and it switches targets in your fov. I wish I could make it so it fires at the enemy even if I'm not in combat. I got it set to toggle, never cancels.​​

I have an Xbox One controller. Can anyone provide me with a link to a website where I can find instructions on how to bind the controller's buttons and triggers for the game? I have been googling for the information and I have no luck. All instructions I can find are for programming an Xbox 360 controller,

Disregard my previous question, it's become a moot point. I took the Xbox One controller to the store that I purchased it from and returned it. I got an Xbox 360 controller in it's place and have an Xbox 360 Wireless receiver on order from Amazon.com. I found a list of key binding commands that I found at Reddit, but I have no idea how to load them into the game. I am aware that I can put them in text files and load the text files into the game. Loading the text files is the part I don't know how to do.

I have no real experience with MMORPGs so I haven't the foggiest idea of where to begin. I tried following some instructions I found at another website, but couldn't understand them.

I would also appreciate if someone can answer some questions I have. The key binding commands I found at the reddit page have their commands in quotes. Are they supposed to be like that?

The page where I found the instructions says that you need to use the chat window to enter the key binding commands and load the text files. Is it referring to that little "Chat" dialogue box in the bottom left hand corner of the game screen?

Last of all, the controller key binding commands can't be entered unless the Xbox 360 Wireless receiver is connected to my PC and the controller has been synced to it right?

I tried including links to the pages where I got the key binding commands and where I found the instructions I mentioned, but couldn't. If anyone needs the links to these pages for reference, I'll try to send them via PM, just contact me via PM.

I don't use controllers or key binds outside of the game ones that you can setup in options. So I don't know how to help you.
