This might just be my own impression, but I've wondered why Deep Space Nine seems to be less prolific among fans compared to the other Trek shows it aired with (The Next Generation and Voyager). Arguably, it has some of the deepest and most interesting storytelling in all of Trek, and yet DS9 never seemed to gain as much traction among the mainstream or the diehard Trekkie audiences as its contemporaries. I'd like to hear Behr-and-company's thoughts on this, and maybe how that played into their decisions for the show in the later seasons.

Also, maybe something on the deviations that 'some' folks might conclude are things that the Great Bird (Gene Roddenberry) would have never done with Trek, including the highly spiritual nature of some of the episodes, the Federation going to war in later seasons, as well as the morally gray, sometimes maybe even wrong actions taken by the main characters. Are these things (as well as similar facets in subsequent series) an evolution of Trek storytelling that should continue in the future, or are some of them things that run totally counter to its core ideals and be discarded in favor of more 'traditional' Trek tales?

*sigh* Yeah, can't really put a positive spin on this. "Take all the time that you need" I suppose, but as I'd hope would be obvious, the more time this takes, the more fans' patience will run thin and probably divert their interests elsewhere.
