Boolean Heavy Assault Cannon question...

I am contemplating getting Lobi Crystals to buy the Boolean Cannon. However, I am used to handling faster firing weapons like split beam rifles and dual pistols. I have been using the Crystalline Radiation Projector as a proxy for the Boolean Cannon to get used to the slower rate of fire and cool down times. My question is how good of a proxy is the Projector in terms of the mechanics?

quick and dirty test in the kobli ground says not a good one but I can't think of anything that is any better. granted that could be cause that charcter geared to make good use of the boolean and I'm not even sure how to build for the projector. even taking that into account, as close as they are in firing rate and attack types the are still very different weapons.

I'll dig around the wiki see if I find anything better but tell than the projector is probably the best you can do.

You need to make every shot count (or preferably crit) - so high crit, high severity. If you do this, each shot is a hammerblow worth the lowered rate of fire. Also, I find if you master weapon switching in combat, it synergises really well with the tholian cannon, allowing you to damage health while shield remains (switching to the boolean to break that shield in the meantime). On a tac or with energy buffs the tholian can wipe out ensign to lt level enemies via double dot with temp spec (secondary and single fire have seperate dot procs) while you use the boolean on harder targets

While the boolean isn't a rapid fire kill machine, the ability to one hit ko a mob is pretty addictive, as is getting a string of kills via using a ground grav well type power to bunch them into its firing arc

Also, commando spec truely is your friend with the boolean and tholian cannon, as are secondary cd reduction powers

Basically learn to tag first then pick off the most annoying target (boolean and tholian) or build for extreme single target firepower and learn threat triage, or learning which enemy to prioritise for destruction

The main weak point for me in using it as a proxy is the difference in firing arcs and ranges of the secondary firing mode. As stated above, the secondary fire c/d perks from Commando and Temporal can collectively change the firing times to something a lot more reasonable. The way I think of the boolean secondary is as a multi-hit dense beam rifle, if you've spent time handling those

after more quick and dirt testing some kinda high Density beam rifle preferably disruptor is better then the projector.

and I'ld disagree crit anything, boolean is too slow in less you can be sure your going to crit. raw damage is better for this weapon. even on my sci character which I balanced more to survivability can two shot pretty much anything in normal gameplay no need for crits.

I picked up one on a whim and regretted it. It does solid damage but the slow firing rate is a big downside and this spills over to the usual rifle butt attack, which has been replaced by the twirly thing from the movie. If you're set on spending some lobi crystals I suggest you go for the Sphere Builder ground weapon instead; it has a much better firing rate and does double damage to exposed targets even when using the full-auto sweep.

Running around shouting "Kree" at other players is just a bonus.

weak melee is why you should use the terran bat'leth preferably as part of using the terran ground two piece. really all rifle butt type attacks are terrible for anything but buying a little room. can't say anything about the sphere builder weapon.

I'd instead vote for the lobi Herald AP wep. The chaining leads to constant flanks and you mowing down groups of enemies faster than other weps with no recharge time. While the Sphere Builder can exploit, the Herald will just burn everything else down around it as well as ripping into the main target, and consistently procing the +7% Bonus Energy Damage getting you the +21% stack really quickly, shortening battles quite a bit. I have it on two characters because of how quickly it tears through enemies, and on my main with the Temporal Rep Ground set and a Herald kit that boosts AP damage he obliterates groups of enemies.

I think it's a great gun, especially in Brotherhood of the Sword, Miner Instabilities and Fleet Incursion. :)

I have one too, but I rarely use it because of the racket it makes.

I like my Undine hand cannon thing from the Lobi store. Good damage and a ground AoE.
And as stated above... take your lobi holding toon to Tribble (btw you can copy it over many times to multiply your lobi) and try every gun, armor and ship in the lobi store!

I found the boolean cannon a bit hard to get used to because of the stated reasons. Still I’m somewhat astonished that it easily out DPSes all guns that I *did* get used to the past 5 years. No idea who at cryptics gave that thing a balance check but why complain if you hold the trigger.

Use deadly intent or the firearms specialist trait. The boolean just rips everything to shreds. The dps and one hits are stupidly high. I run a boolean on a scrub toon with no good traits, gear or mods and it out performs my main. Best 50 lobi spend ever. Also, it looks equally hilarious on a teeny tiny toon or a massive gorn. Best deeps, best space barbie, best gun.

If you are a Science Character lead off with a shot of Cold Fusion Flash from your Kit. You can get that from the Kelvin (now Infinity) Lockbox.

Thanks. I suppose I will try it out on Tribble. I'll just wait for the next Master Key sale to buy keys and then test it out there.

This is for my KDF tactical captain who already has the deadly intent; purchased it about a week ago.

The Lobi Herald Staff-thingie is superior. It's super-easy and mindless to use as it chains.

I got the "Khaanon" just for the sake of variety on my Gorn as it is one of the very few weapons ingame that don't look silly in a Gorn's hands. It's big, impressive looking, and ridiculous, just like Gorn B)

The slow ROF is an issue with the Khaanon. It makes up for it however, by slamming very hard. It also helps to be Tactical to get your attack and crit buffs going to really magnify the damage to ridiculous levels. Do that with traits, captain abilities, and various kit modules.

Another thing that helps it are kit modules that gather NPCs together such as one from Temporal Reputation that pulls in every hostile NPC together. You then fire the AOE ability of the Khaanon into it and wipe them out.

Key sale coming to coincide with the Lockbox release.
