Seriously, starting up the game, and now, WTF?!, they bound the SHIFT key to the Arc overlay. No, not just SHIFT-S, but SHIFT altogether! I can't even sprint this way! Heck, I can't even type *I* this way. What brainiac thought of this brilliant idea!?!
Either that, or my Arc is broken.
EDIT: And I seem to be always running too, without the option to revert that.
Turns out it's not just SHIFT. It's basically any primary special key you set to open Arc overlay. So, I changed it to CtrL-K (apparently it was set to SHIFT-something), and sure enough now every time I press CtrL, I get the overlay. This is insane.
Sounds more like something you did, Like have you checked your cap lock? Is your mouse batttery low?
No, it's really Cryptic. Caps lock is off, mouse is wired (and working fine). I was briefly able to get normal keyboard operation (since I changed it to CtrL-K), but now the weirdness occurs when just pressing CtrL. And switching between modes, with B, messes things up too.
Oh how weak and danity you fingers must be that typing in your password is such a chore and leaves you faint and weak.
So hard to do with lady boy fingers. I feel bad OP that it's such a major issue and burden in your life.
Well, when I first saw this thread, this is not what I expected.
With all the new content (including yet another space battleground) and Geko saying "PvP is a top priority" in a recent podcast... I figured this thread would be pretty much anything but this.

Yeah, how silly of me to want a working Arc, and not one that totally breaks my keybinds.

It's not Cryptic, Meimei, it's "Perfect World"-the people who developed and own ARC.
also, it's not a bug, it's a feature.:P
I hate that feature. :P But yeah, it's PWE, of course. I guess I'll do without from now on.

Psst, Dstahl had already been dangling that 'PvP is going to get our attention' carrot in front of us, long, long before Geko was ever here. I'll believe it when I see it. Not my thing, really, PvP, but patrickngo here et al. would sure love it! But with anything already announced to be upcoming, do you really think you'll see a PvP revamp any time soon?! Well, I don't.
Just run the game from the exe, it will work just fine without arc..
Hmm. I just ran "C:\Program Files (x86)\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live\GameClient.exe", but the game immediately crashes. I think I need the startup box. Not seeing that, though.
EDIT: @patrickngo: thanks for the detailed recap of podcast, btw.
Taylor, i took a few days off the game and yesterday i came back to find ARC is FUBAR. So its having issues. Im having to manually type my password.....yeah.

All I am saying, is that with all the new information out there, the actual content of your OP is surprising, considering the thread title.
I was just giving some examples of what other posters were talking about and saying "that's nuts".
I tried rebinding the overlay to a different key and the damn thing still came up for me. I've stopped using Arc when that happened a week or so ago especially when I went for a shift ability in an STF and was locked out of the fight while the overlay popped up and I got beat up cause I couldn't run a defensive ability.
Green people don't have to be.... little.

@meimeitoo Have you considered just binding the overlay to a key not used a lot like the tilde key next to the 1? Is it possible to bind it to F2?
While I don't use ARC to launch STO (I use Steam) I had to rebind the Steam screenshot key because it was bound to the key that also did something to the UI in STO so... yea...
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Read again. It's not just SHIFT-S, but any primary key used to set the overlay (see my last post).
No, it's really Cryptic.
That requires me to constantly type in my password (Arc logs me in automagically). But it may have to come to that, yes.
Your sarcasm despite, suffering will indeed ensue when I can't use Arc any more to charge Zen.
theres a website for that
