Winter event marks project.

fovrelfovrel Member Posts: 1,448 Arc User
Right now I have completed the project for the ship and I can run the ice race for marks. Can't we have the possibility to run both projects from the start? So from the first day we can run the race onetime for the ship project and onetime each day for marks; both projects can be slotted at the start of the event. The one for the ship is finished after getting 1000 vouchers, the mark project can be done each day.

I also support a mechanic so I can run an event one time each day, not a twenty hour cooldown. A change is not necessary, an option is good enough.

The conversion project is a pointlessly tedious hoop-jumper to begin with. If there are to be alt rewards, the race mission should just have option to choose a reward like episode missions.

If it had an option for straight dilithium instead of requiring even more hoop-jumping to convert the marks, I might even run it myself.

    I'm misreading or something.

Do you want both the ship and the mark conversion projects allowable at the same time in the rep tab?

Or do you want a flag to be placed saying "he/she got the ship" so the race can just give marks, similar to the new Borg Red Alerts?

So basically you want to be able to run the race twice within a 20 hour cool down so that you can devote 40 vouchers to the Event Ship and another 40 vouchers for the Marks projects? What's to stop you from using all 80 voucher to be devoted to the Event Ship? That is something Cryptic does not want to do to make sure that players who want the Event Ship actually log into the game for 25 days so that they can meet their metrics goal. Or at least spend Lobi Crystals to shorten the time.

Probably a better option would be to make the Marks project available from the beginning so that players can use their 40 vouchers for either the Event Ship or for the Marks project every 20 hours. I suppose there are players who are not interested in the ship itself and rather get Marks instead.

Alts. One character does the ship project while other characters do the marks project.

Last week I was the only one putting marks into the fleet K-13 daily projects, so after doing CCA on each character it would have been useful to also be able to ice race with them.

Why run the race for [40 whatchamacallit's->40 marks] when you can run the PvP race for [6 tags->epohh->100-200 marks]?

    They are not mutually exclusive.

The project for bonus marks isn't even the point of the event. The point is to grind for the ship. The bonus marks project is to give those who finish the grind before the end of Winter Wonderland something to continue running for if they so choose, but not required, hence why only a 40 mark reward. There are much better ways to earn marks.

Why not just give us all 10 marks each time we complete the race then lol

Maybe time issues, maybe somebody doesn't like to doff. If you don't regularily get onto the podium, it needs three races to start one epohh on one toon. If you DO regularily win and are not using many alts, you are overflowing with epohh tags.

Of course, if you just happen to enjoy racing, then it doesn't matter as much what you're getting out of it.

The 40 mark race is guaranteed, and can be done whenever you want; while the pvp race is, well, pvp. Only at certain times. And the only guarantee is the 2 tag consolation prize if you get stuck in a race with lots of people including several green-blur folks.

(That said, I've had several alts raising epohhs. If I happen to be in the wonderland when a pvp race is coming up, I give it a shot. Usually do pretty well, unless there's a green blur around.)

Being able to get marks (even 40) is pretty important to new players like myself. Even a low number like 40 allows you to do the daily rep project.

This was my first STO event ever and I found it confusing. First, I made the assumption that I would need 1000 vouchers on each character to get the ship. I was pretty surprised when I found out I couldn't get the ship project after my first character. Some kind person pointed out that I could get the ship on my alts through the Rep Store reclaim feature.

Now I have a 1000 vouchers on three characters and I can only spend 40 per day :) That will leave me with 300+ extra by the end of the winter event.
