There are enough differences (and so much historical pic data) that I think there is good justification to split them up. Some areas are fine consolidated but others not so much.
The only places in the forum that may require seperate are feedback and support. Otherwise spend that half a second typing in the platform (eg. XB1, PS4, or PC) in the header to distingush the thread. Cryptic already do such a thing!
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.
I believe one of the reasons there is no console-specific forums yet is because a good chunk of PC players wouldn't bother checking them and focus on their platform first.
I'm pretty sure not a lot of PC players know about the T6 Elachi ships, for example.
Actually the game notices could be in the combined area but it would be good to have the tutorials/advice areas be separate. For example, yesterday I started a news rom toon to get the leech for my fed by buying the 1000 zen ship, only to find out its bind to character not account, so leech is now stuck on my rom char....looked in the forums but never saw info on it. Most of the info out there about dps configs is still mainly pc info which is not accurate for Xbox. That is just an example of how a Xbox forum could be useful for tips/tricks

Ok, first, you complain you bought the leech and found out it was bound to character, something just about any PC player could have told you about. Then, you complain that some nebulous bunch of info is "not accurate for Xbox." In other words, you have a specific example of why NOT to split the forums, followed by a generalized "feeling" with nothing to support it. Huh. Only reason I can see for separating the group's is so I don't have to read this kind of stuff.
Oh, also, before buying anything, check out the Wiki, it would have saved you $10:

But most people don't.
Instead, they post their bit and let others waste their time with a page or two of answers that apply to PC before putting in "btw, i'm on xbox, does that matter?"

Pft... Can't get people to make topical titles at all, you want them to add "PS4" or "XBOne" too? I can see it now: "Really Cryptic? [XBOne]" or "Why Does This Happen? [PS4]"
Now, maybe if they have is functional tags in the forums. Instead of being "Member" we could be "PS4 Player" or even combinations of the platforms a player plays on: "PC/XBOne Player" for example. Then, not only could someone responding to a post know if they are giving helpful info, but someone reading that advice can use the tag to help decide if it is relevant.

Yes, well, I try not to read those threads at all.

+1 on the OP idea.
