Any Fix For This Boff Bug Please (Part 2)

Hi

I've just started having this bug where 1 Boff is showing up in dialog boxes with another Boffs name. Xisay is my engineering Boff and has always appeared in the dialog box ("teleport to ship" etc). D'vex -the unique Romulan- has never appeared in any dialog box, he is lower in rank than Xisay and is in no stations at all (ground or space). Now when I get the dialog box it's D'vexs face but with Xisays name. (Beaming up in the Romulan ship)

Before this happened

I changed D'vex's appearance in the tailor.
I never touched Xisay.
I changed another 2 different Boffs appearances (but I don't have a problem with them).
I recruited 1 new Boff (he is also not affected)
Also all the tailor Boff names are different so it's not related to my previous problem in that respect.

I've tried changing both peoples names, also tried changing both Boffs appearances again but that didn't work. I've also put Veril in the space engineering seat and she seems to work correctly, so that points to it being just with these 2 Boffs.

D'vex isn't even in any 'department head' doff seats.

Have you rebooted your game since this has happened?

This happens all the time. It's been happening for years.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Happens to me all the time. :) Usually just the wrong boff (but with her right name); and sometimes, especially when beaming up from the Academy or ESD, I get the right name, but the wrong boff.

No he isn't I mentioned it at the bottom of my post but never worded it well.

Yeah and it won't go away so I thought it was linked to me playing about in the tailor.

This happens all the time. It's been happening for years.

I'm not saying you're wrong but I've put in 100's of hours and it's never happened to me before lol.

Do you not understand what this tread is about?

This isn't a bug report, it's a thread asking this friendly, helpful community for help sorting this problem.

I made a thread a few days ago with a Boff problem which people helped me to quickly sort out as it was a known (and easy to fix) problem.

S'pose if you didn't read it or jumped to conclusions that you'd think that lol.

Seems strange but as I mentioned, after 3 years of playing I've never had this happen and I've put a lot of hours in.

And it just starts happening after I'd sorted a previous Boff problem lol.

Well it seems this problem starts after adding or editing Boffs so that narrows it down a tiny bit :|

So from the replies it seems people are saying it'll come and go, is that true?

Thanks for all the replies people :)

That's how it is with mine, though like I said, if I put Veril in the 'problem seat' the issue goes away. I could get rid of D'vex but it might just pass onto another boff and then I'd be without a unique boff :/

I can live with it if it's just an occasional thing like you mentioned at ESD but if it starts happening in missions then D'vex has a very long (space) walk back to New Romulus :|

well, I guess as long as it's not ET, Jerry Luis, or Jar Jar Binks you're probably okay.

I usually get this glitch to happen when I've done a couple of Foundry Missions or been working in the Foundry, but never pay any attention to it. All kinds of bugs happen after you've been handling the magic of the Foundry: Floating objects in place of your Boffs during missions; weird FX effects... My Cargo Ship... Other funny things you might see under the art section or epic screenshots, etc...

Starfleet Academy has always had this sort of bug. choosing to beam to sector space(for me) typically results in seeing my eng boff with the name of my science boff attached.

Lol :) thing is, seeing his face (instead of the original) fills me with the same amount of annoyance as as seeing Jar Jar :p

Hehehe that ship is so cool, I hope you can fix it though :)

Seems weird, did you (or anyone) fiddle with the tailor or recruit a new boff just before this started happening?

Another thing I've noticed with this bug is in the tailor when I 'load' appearances for D'vex the only things that show up in there are the 'loads' I've made of him with clothes changes (2) and the rest is filled with 'loads' of my main character, but if i view the 'loads' for my human FED officer he has images of not only him but all human males I've made as well as other humans from my FED character.

Maybe little things like this might help to point to the issue and a chance of being sorted.

It is normal for the tailor to show all saved outfits for boffs that match species & gender, thats how you upgrade storyline green storyline boffs like D'vex into a purple boff. You make what changes you want, save outfit, select purple boff of matching career, species, & gender & load that saved outfit, then dismiss the green boff & rename the purple one.

I have other Roms that aren't in D'vexs load, so that's why I thought it was strange.

What @azrael605 said is correct about loading outfits. It will show all saved outfits for that Faction/Gender/Race BOFF.

If not all Romulans BOFF outfits are showing when you load outfits, I'd first ask, did you save the outfit to begin with? "Purchasing" the outfit when you're done editing in the Tailor doesn't automatically save the outfit to be loaded again later for another BOFF. You must "save" first, then "purchase", if you intend to reuse the look.

My second question would be, and this is particularly important for Romulan BOFFs, how did you acquire them? If you earned them, through level progression, DOFF assignments, or purchased them from the C-Store or Romulan personnel officer (Intel BOFFs), there shouldn't be much of an issue, and I'd imagine that saved outfits will show when loaded. A potential problem with Romulan/Reman BOFFs bought from the Exchange is Faction affiliation. Romulan/Reman BOFFs are either FED or KDF allied. Their alliance, however, does not show on the Exchange, and will not prevent a Romulan captain from purchasing and commissioning them. And the only way you'll know the BOFF's alliance is by attempting to dress them in the Romulan Allied Uniform. If the BOFF cannot wear your alliance uniform, then it's allied with the opposite Faction. Unfortunately, your captain doesn't have access to the opposing Faction Alliance Uniform, so you cannot dress them in it either. You're therefore left with using the neutral Romulan Republic Uniforms or cross faction outfits. All of this to say that, Romulan BOFF saved outfits may not show on BOFFs of opposing alliance unless forced through the "load outfit only" option.

I always save first though I don't think that's the issue but it could be because each boff has his own sets (loads) that don't mix (for the unique story boffs).

Hiven only has 'loads' of Hiven, same for Tovan, but when it comes to D'vex he also has my main characters 'loads' in there too.

It's not really an issue I'm bothered about I just thought it might point to where the (bigger, more annoying) problem could lie :)

Well, also, the unique Romulan Boffs are apparently not considered by the game to be the same species as actual Romulans.
