I'm sure someone has complained about this already but I am not going to dig through 1000 pages to find out. This is why I quit for ages and it's not helping to make me come back. My specs are fine. My driver is fine. It's the latest recommended driver that AMD has. I don't want to use lower settings and I don't want to use default settings. I want to use MY settings that I have selected that work and have worked in the past.
My system is fine. It's yours that's messed up.
Wow. There is a new KDF Science ship. I'll be!

Uhhh because the forum picture link is bad and I have been gone from the game and haven't bothered to fix it? I don't generally update pictures in forums I don't go to.
Thanks for your comment that doesn't help me get into the game without resetting my settings.
also, your sig is invalid - they released a T6 KDF science ship less than a month ago...it may not be especially STELLAR, but it's still T6 and KDF aesthetic

A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch."
"We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
Oh? if I can get into the game, I'll be sure to check it out. I will fix my signature but not going to mess with uploading a new forum picture.
i'll poke around a bit and see if i can find a way for you to bypass that screen without needing to reset your settings

That reminds me of this joke. There was a guy driving on the highway. He turns on his radio, and hears a bulletin about someone going the wrong way on his road. He looks outside, and says "Hmm, I think it's more than 1 person!" :P
If you have a system that's well within the games requirements and you're getting this message, then yeah.. it's obviously the application. Is it possible that your system really isn't up to the task?
Are you running the game using the D3D9 setting? Or the D3D11? Because D3D9 support is being retired and they're posting messages to people to let them know. You might be able to fix it by just changing your settings to use the 11 setting instead of 9.
Just throwing out ideas.
I appreciate you helping.
PrefEntry SkipSystemSpecsID 199_0.0.0.0_26131
PrefEntry SkipSystemSpecsValue 1004
And the line that is causing the problem
PrefEntry SystemSpecs.videoDriverVersion 0.0.0.0
It can't determine my driver at all it seems.
I use D3D11. It's not the best video card on the market but it has always played STO fine for years until today. It would play it fine today it if let me in without setting it to minimum too! LOL
Graphics Chipset: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (260 is my version)
Memory Size: 2048 MB
The problem is it detecting the video drivers, not the video card or the drivers. It says version 0.0.0.0. I have 16.12.1 - "Your Radeon Software is up to date."
It's definitely them. They can't see my driver package.
Nah, Meimeitoo. I know I am good. I would not be able to play EVE or SWTOR either. I'm definitely going the right direction. :-P
seems you managed to find something about the problem that i couldn't...just out of curiosity, does replacing the 0.0.0.0 with your driver version number make the message go away and let you load into the game alright?

Nope. It makes me reset them to minimum or default. I just went in minimum... I changed my settings inside the game and then deleted my spam mail in my box and crashed. LOL
may not be, since i haven't gotten a crash from deleting mail myself; possibly because the only mail i've deleted recently is goldspammer mail, and i use the Report Spam button on those, which not only removes it from my mailbox, but also blocks the spammer as well

Agreed, definitely sounds like a game issue.
I have heard that the game has had problems for a long time on AMD GPU's, I have an NVidia so I can't really say much about it. I have however, seen a large number of people complaining about all types of strange issues between STO and AMD, must of which seem to be STO problems.
Here is a shot in the dark, can you maybe roll back to older drivers? Sometimes that works when games have issues with the newest drivers. Not sure if you would want to try and roll back or not, but it might be an option if nothing else works.
won't hurt to at least try, but positive results shouldn't be expected

You're probably right, I was just trying to throw out ideas.
More then likely it won't work.
I didn't attempt a rollback. It's almost 3am and I just wanted to check out what has changed in STO since I wandered off. :-)
Well, in your defense, whatever game I play, whether it's STO or Second Life, or whatever, AMD always seems to enjoy cr*ppy support somehow.
Oh, so it's not just me. My client crashed real badly too when I tried to delete mail from the Exchange.
Indeed. And since Crimson, it's only gotten worse.
Not sure if this is a STO problem or an AMD problem, but my suspicion is with the latter. It just seems like AMD has all kinds of driver problems.
It started with the 2.0 lighting update for me.
I don't have problems with my other games, including SWTOR and Guild Wars 2.
I never reset any settings, though, I just checked the remember my settings and clicked on exit. Not had any crashes, either.
Hopefully Cryptic will fix it at some point, but I'm not holding my breath any time soon..
