Hi Devs, after some thought into this I think it would be awesome if STO players have access and interaction to the Duty Officer/Fleet Assignments, Admiralty, R&D, Exchange, Reputation, etc.
People request this every so often, but the devs are very busy with the PC, PS4 and Xbox 1 versions. They'd have to hire an extra developer to do this, and personally I'd rather than they spend that money on bug fixes or new story episodes.
Little chance of that happening now. Neverwinter used to have an impressive website feature similar to what you are requesting and they closed it down a few months ago. The STO version was capable of Fleet management and a few other things, but nothing has happened with it for years and it might even have shut down.

EvE Online started a similar web interface too, 2 years back or so. But they quickly abandoned the idea, as their 'Geko' soon realized people aren't in-game when they can just doff and such from the web portal. And when they don't log on regularly, one day they might simply not log in at all, was the rationale.

Which is a very true rationale. MMO's survive on people logging in "ingame" everyday. A web client could just allow someone to DOFF there way to 60, and not even touch the game again.
Sorry Captains, you have to do some sort of hard work in this game. Captains chair isnt easy
Yea the gateway is more or less abandoned, but good for a peek here and there at how your ec is doing from work if youre an exchange junkie like myself.
I actually would be glad to pay a small fee for the app. The ability to sort out my fleet via Gateway is great if I can't get on for a day or 2, but I've said previously, it doesn't need much more if it's just like Gateway is. All it's essentially doing is accessing data.
"You don't want to patrol!? You don't want to escort!? You don't want to defend the Federation's Starbases!? Then why are you flying my Starships!? If you were a Klingon you'd be killed on the spot, but lucky for you.....you WERE in Starfleet. Let's see how New Zealand Penal Colony suits you." Adm A. Necheyev.

Here is Neverwinter's excuse for shutting down Gateway.
"The reason is that the current Gateway website has been shown to be susceptible to several aggressive botting activities. We’ve tried multiple times to stop the botting. Each time, it’s worked for a while, but then the botters have found new ways to break Gateway. Such incidents not only affect Gateway but greatly live game performance in Neverwinter, affecting players on the live shard.
The constant vigilance to counter these continual activities ties up resources that we feel are better used in creating content for you in Neverwinter."
Not the same as Eve since Neverwinter has the Invocation system which requires logging in at least once a day for the various rewards. Although, STO would have a similar reason as Eve due to the lack of incentive for logging in each day. Why bother logging in to do Doffing, Admiralty, and R&D when it can all be done on your phone.

Which is why such systems should always be accompanied with live login bonuses.
EDIT: On the other hand, if a significant number of players don't want to actually play the game and just "doff and such" from a web portal, I'd say that's an indication there's something wrong with the game itself.
