"Necessary" is somewhat subjective... necessary for what?
All my captains regardless of their career have Mass Gravimetric Detonation which is a great area of effect (AoE) kit. Great for all ground combat situations. Note; I have not yet purchased any of the new kits from the Winter Wonderland Event yet so no opinion on them for now. Also, I have yet to purchase any kits from the Temporal Reputation.
- All my Engineers have Sabotage which disables ranged weapons for 7.8+ seconds and damages / destroys inanimate objects such as Herald Constructs, Drones / Swarmers and Turrets. Does not stop enemies from throwing grenades though. Extremely useful for Brotherhood of the Sword Elite and Miner Instabilities Elite.
- All my Scientists have Sonic Disruption which is a good crowd control kit since it can interrupt and knock back enemies in front of you. I would guess-timate that the area of effect is a 30 degree cone. Good for a chance to pushing back in any situation.
- All my Tacticals have Graviton Spike which has a nice AoE where nearby enemies are all yanked together making them good targets for a grenade. Useful for all ground combat situations.
Science Kit Module - Cold Fusion Flash - Seems okay, but not entirely convinced. Need to test other science kit modules to determine if this is worth using or not.
Subjective request from the thread. How's about playing the game, and deciding for yourself, what the best are? Considering not everyone is wired for the exact same playstyle(variance of success, depending on the player).

Cold Fusion Flash + Endothermic Induction Field + Anti-Time Entanglement Field + Paradox Bomb (if you can) is a pretty rapid fire and very devastating kit chain for science captains

For kit frames, find things that mesh well with your playstyle. Same goes for the kit modules.
I can't take it anymore! Could everyone just chill out for two seconds before something CRAZY happens again?!

Thanks, I'll look into that combo. It just seems on their own Cold Flash Fusion and Endothermic Induction Field do not seem very impressive to me. Perhaps my expectations may be a bit too high...
Yeah, you can't just pack 5 kits into a frame as extra storage anymore. So unless you want to devote 30+ bank slots for kits you gotta choose. Just wish I could spam out 3-5 different minefields w/ my engineer...

Cold Fusion and Endo can be unimpressive individually, but when used as a tag team they're pretty damn good. The built in slow from both of them will keep pretty much everything you hit within the DoT field, no Electro-Gravitic Field needed (though you could still throw in EGF, if you were feeling particularly mean haha)

Currently testing the following:
Engineering Kit Module - Active Immunity Mine Field - This will very likely replace the Chroniton Mine Barrier kit.

Tactical Kit Module - Micro-Torpedo Launcher - Pretty useful and a potential keeper. Good chance to knock back enemies.

For science, the Neutronic Radiation (Delta again) is nice, as is the Winter Event endothermic and stasis.

Or Crystal spike. Throw a spike that use the temp power or the graviton spike.

Yeah, Paradox Bomb is easily my favorite new kit module/BOff ability for that reason. It's just so wonderful for grouping things together.
