Why do we need 1000 "vouchers" for the ship...

angrytargangrytarg Member Posts: 11,016 Arc User
... and not simply 25? pig-17.gif

To clarify, we get 40 vouchers per race, meaning 25 races for 1000. You can buy packs with Lobi, which come with a random number of vouchers between 2-6 vouchers which are however completely useless since you need 40 to complete the next "step". So why not simply raise the price of the 5 Lobi packs to 35-50 Lobi (best case - worst case) for "1 voucher" and simplify the system?

Probably psychological. '25' inescapably confronts you with the fact that you really need to do this 25 times. Better just to make up an arbitrary number (like a 1,000). Then ppl can still do the math, of course, but it's not so immediate.

Didn't a similar thing happen in computer games (or even pins) a long time ago? There were times when you got 1 point for an action, and maybe 3 or 5 for a really good one. Nowadays you get a million instead. Just drop the last 6 digits, and there's no difference left, still people seem to like their large scores more.

(It should be added that it's inconsistent with the way you need 14 Crystalline Shards or similar for other events, agreed)

I guess is to keep interest on the Winterland, otherwise, people would just hop in 1 day, get the daily and be done with the winterland for good...

Honestly, I prefer the way the do the anniversary event, some vouchers granted when playing the mission and then you can do the daily to get the rest... feels less of a grind... I wish the winterland and summerland had something similar going for them, a mission tied around them to grants a decent amount of vouchers. But hey, here's wishing right!

It is possible they were considering adding other things to buy with autographed photographs instead of just the ship and marks. Buying something for 20 autographed photographs is much easier than buying it for 0.5 autographed photographs.

It's funny because, personally, I find the 1000 voucher number more daunting then the 25. Admittedly, I purposely avoided doing the math to figure out exactly how many times I would need to do the race. So thanks for that! Where was the spoiler alert damn it!

Yes, but the thing is buying vouchers with Lobi is completely useless. You can never be, say, 18 vouchers short. It's always 40, 80 and so on depending on how often you missed out. The only reason you can be 18 vouchers short is when you have purchased a number during the event, but not enough to fill up 40. So at this point, being 18 short, you need to run the race to get 40 one more time anyway, and you can't take vouchers into the next year, so... it is entirely useless to purchase vouchers with Lobi to save you a race of 2 minutes tops. The only way to really make it count is to have at least 30-50 Lobi lying around to get to 40 vouchers, and at that point they could just make it a 30-50 purchase for one voucher...

indeed it is about the lobi and vouchers you can buy, if you only needed 25 vouchers you could easily buy this through the lobi store even if you only got 1 at a time, by making it 1000 vouchers this is a much more costly way to fill the required amount so players are more likely to play the event if they can rather then opt out and just buy the vouchers with lobi.

you cant buy Crystalline Shards or similar with lobi so there is no need to increase the quantity to make it an undesirable option like there is with the seasonal events.
if you could buy these tokens with lobi you would find that you need a lot more all of a sudden.

Obviously, if you'd read the OP, it wouldn't be a reduction to 25 vouchers and Lobi purhcases would stay the same. You could just as well have said "Lol, it would only take one race then".

However, the 1000 vouchers just seem unnecessary, especially, as others pointed out, the other events require 14 thingies. I understand that this was maybe relevant back when we could save currency from one event to the next, but this is impossible now.

as I said before, if they made it so you only need 25 tokens to get the ship you would only need at worst 13 purchases of the token packs that can be purchased with lobi that hold the ship tokens and probably considerably less, even if they made it so you only got one token per pack you would still only need to open 25 packs.
requiring 1000 vouchers means you need anywhere from 500 packs to 167 packs depending on how lucky you are so players are more likely to play the event rather then just buy the ship with lobi as gaining lobi costs money.

as mission tokens from mirror, breach and crystalline cannot be purchased with lobi there is no need to artificially inflate the required amount as the only way to get the tokens is by playing the event which is what the devs want you to do the most.
