Why is this so?

The character creation screen the begining of your star trek adventure where YOU are the captain.

Some might say that is a major draw card for the game but if it is then why is the character creation screen for the modern starfleet character (the biggest play set for the game) so darn dark you cannot barely see what you are doing? How are we going to dazzle the noobs who havent played the game yet if that is their first impression?

No idea what you're talking about, probably your settings or the Gamma on your monitor.

Character creation screen is perfectly easy to see.

Well in that case it seems the graphc update screwed my settings more then i thought since it has been fine in game :I

The problem is Lighting 2.0, it's a poor quality one size fits all system, problem is it doesn't fit all systems, the exterior environment lighting seems to work well for most, it's the interior area lighting that seems to cause problems, to dark for some, so bright it's bleaching the colors for others.

On some maps I've taken to turning it off and just using the dx11 settings, as the exterior map on Nukara Prime has crashed my drivers twice while using Lighting 2.0.

Nukara is the only problem place I've found so far. The lighting and bloom is so blown out of proportion there I can't see anything but white.

Funny that it crashes your drivers. Prior to the lighting update I was stuck running the game in DX9 because not doing so would crash my drivers (across multiple systems, AMD and Nvidia). Now after the update I have to run it in DX11 with Lighting 2.0 on, because turning it off or running the game in DX9 now crashes my drivers within minutes.

I don't have that problem with the map, for me it's the psychedelic patterns, yellow, green and pink/purple patterns across most of the rock and ground surfaces. I don't have any problems with the interior maps, lvl 2 is dark and creepy, just the way it's meant to be.

First time they have crashed for me from something in game, normally both they and the game crash if I forget what I'm doing and Alt+Tab from full screen.

All you have done is so how incompetent you are in setting up the game. OP your settings are off recheck your settings and thanks for the laugh at your expense.

Unfortunately OP, Lighting 2.0 and the graphical updates reset all your settings. So you just need to adjust your gamma and that should help.

I frequently let this stuff go because I don't know where people are from, so I don't know if English is their first language, but golly, ssbn, I know you are in the US, so:

If you are going to berate someone for being incompetent, be sure your own spelling, grammar, and punctuation are in order.

If I were a mod I'd get fired pretty quickly I suspect. "What's this? A suggestion post in general? Moved. Hmm a bug post? Moved. Ahh much better, zero posts in general. Life is good."
