-=- What's Up With Lockboxes? @New Community Manager! -=-

Hey @ambassadorkael#6946

What's going on with lockboxes?

There's a news article up today saying that 2 days ago an infinity box rerun started, and the infinity box is back in the dil store, but it doesnt have the kelvin ships in it like the next infinity box was meant to.

Its awfully early to be retiring the Sphere builder box.

Is there a new regime with lockboxes, what gives?

I was about to post about this too. Seems really early...

I'm so confused. The news links this old blog but with today's date, mentioning a starting date 2 days ago now: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/10276573

If the infinity box is coming, that means the contents of the Kelvin lockbox* should be available in the infinity boxes now given one in-between lockbox season has passed.

Hey guys, thanks for grabbing me. I'm looking into this right now, but I'm at Thanksgiving at my parent's house, as I imagine is everyone at Cryptic. :) I'll get info when I can.

    Two items -
    • The introductory text for infinity boxes was always written with wiggle room that could allow them to skip adding a box... wiggle room I immediately assumed was there specifically because the contents of the Kelvin boxes may be subject to some very specialized profit-sharing agreements that aren't compatible with the infinity box structure.
    • The sphere builder b0xes may not be being retired yet, simply superseded for the duration of the holiday. In which case it's not time to update the Infinity boxes yet anyway.

Also, the "well you've opened it, now pick an item" sub-boxes have auto-updated in the past. Ones I know I've partially opened before Nakhul toys were added to the list now allow me to make nakuhl choices, so if the Infinity boxes HAVE already been updated, all you need to do is check your choices for those intermediate boxes and see if anything has been added to the list.

In fact, I'll go do so now, as I've got a couple of unassigned weapon choice boxes and if Kelvin stuff is added I should see a Phaser Emitters checkbox at the end of the list.

    One sec.

Confirmed - existing console, trait, and weapon choice infinity sub-boxes are NOT offering Kelvin Lockbox options.

    Hey guys.

The dates on the Infinity Lockbox are now updated in the blog. The box began dropping today and will go away on the 28th. Have a great rest of your Thanksgiving!

Also the Sphere Builder box is still available in the dilithium store. It has NOT been retired yet.

Mine have in the past. No comment on if that will continue to be true. For example I recently got one of the "lesser tier 5 ship" boxes. I'm just gonna sit on it until the Sphere Builder stuff is moved into the Infinity boxes so I can pull one of the little Sphere Builder frigates out of it. That's more useful to me than any of the currently available choices.

It seems like they just keep one item file for the box and each sub-box: the current table. Not infinity box 16Q2, infinity box 16Q3, infinity box 16Q4, etc. Probably a lot less strain on the database that way. If they have to fix a goof, it fixes everything in one pass instead of having to retroactively fix old versions one at a time by hand.

Logically, it seems that the Infinity box drop is part of a black friday promo.

It's probably intentional to drive people to buy keys to open boxes. Seeing as keys are at their lowest ever zen price it'd probably be much more enticing to people who have a few zen spare after buying ships to have the infinity box around.

This is not a new Infinity Lockbox release. It is the the last one that they are throwing out there for one week only. It is just to keep hype up between Thanksgiving and the start of the Winter Event.

The next updated Infinity Lockbox will probably roll out a week and a half before whatever is coming as the new content release around the time of the Anniversary Event. That will most likely be then followed by a totally new Lockbox. THAT Infinity Lockbox will contain the Kelvin Lockbox stuff.

This mini-Infinity Lockbox 'Event' will also serve to further keep prices of ships, including that Jem'hadar stuff down.

The blog states that the Keldon, and Jem ships should be availabe in the T6 infinity prize pack. However at this time the Golden epic t6 infinity prize pack only contains the choice of either a Herald Vonph or Nah'kul Acheros.

I know this because I opened rougly 60 boxes and got 2 T6 Infinity Prize Packs. At this time I have not seen any option to get a Keldon or either of the Jem ships mentioned in blog.

There's a T6 Infinity Prize Pack and a T6 Ultra Rare Infinity Prize Pack. The first non-Ultra rare version has all of the normal T6 lockbox ships while the ultra rare prize pack, which you won, has the Vonph and Acheros.

The Vonph was and is still super cheap. They can be had starting at around 140 million. The Acheros is in the same ballpark.

Yeah the UR ships are now worth considerably less than the regular T6 ships. Kinda messed up the whole rarity thing I'd say which is a potty, not because I think people should be getting rich off them but because I just don't think there should be hundreds of Vonphs or Acheros ships flying round.

It's actually really odd the way the T6 prices have shot up over 200m when they used to hover round the 150m price. The infinity box should have lowered the prices, it's done the opposite.
I can only imagine it's because everyone picked the Keldon or T6 Jem'hadar ships and the other ships are lacking in supply.

They added desirable new t6 ships to the infinity box. The Jem Dread and the Keldon.

All t6 ship prices must rise to meet those ones.

Whatever the most expensive ship in the choice pack is = the cost of opening it.

So if a Keldon is 300m and a Manasa is 150m, you lose 150m by picking a Manasa.

Over time, the Keldon goes down and the Manasa go up in price until they are more or less the same.

If they keep added new t6 ships to the infinity box (which they will, they are going to do t6 versions of all the old t5 ships), all t6 ships will cost as much as whatever the newest/most expensive ones are.

Yes that is what i suspected. Only the less desirable ones like the Benthan cruiser and the Denuos are dirt cheap now (relative to the others).
The price will probably stabilize somewhere eventually once all the older ships are re-released.

There is a fairly consistent pricing on the exchange though, T5 prize ships are around the 50-100M marks now, T6 prize ships are between 180-300M and the Lobi ships hover around 250M generally. The only exceptional prices are the promo ships and the latest lockbox ships that haven't reached the infinity box yet (apart from the Denuos for some reason).

The Denuos is so ugly that I think most people just dismissed it without even looking at the stats. Given the specs are great, the fact that it's a full fledged temporal ship, the basic pets for it are absolutely top notch, and the (also top tier) frigate pets are cheaper to unlock than the other T6 carriers, it's a real steal for the 200-220m I have seen them selling for.
