Need ideas for my Chronos Dreadnought

Hi All, Firstly I would just like to stick in an early "Seasons Greetings" to all players in STO  Might be a little early for Christmas, but it's never too early to spread a bit of goodwill on a gaming forum

I'm a casual player, but I regularly spend a bit of money on new ships , gear etc, and a month ago, I bought the Chronos Dread (primarily for my Temporal Agent alt, but since getting it, i'm at a loss on what to do with it.

I'm no stranger to Dreads, as I already have the Shamshir all nicely kitted out with Plasma weapons/buffs etc, but with the Chronos, I'm struggling to get a good "feel" for it, which is a shame, as I love how it flies & its turning abilities. The Shamshir feels like you are pulling a powerslide in a cathedral every time you turn, yet the Chronos is much more sprightly and lively when it comes to maneuvering.

I've originally tried fitting it with chroniton weapons from the Temporal Rep tree, but they are feeling very underpowered and underwhelming. I've not worked properly on chroniton weapons before, and i think that I may be missing something, so it would be nice to hear if anyone else knows how to get a bit more "oomph" out of them. What do you think is the best way forward with the Chronos, is a chroniton weapon layout the best way forward, or shall I swap them out for something else?

Also, the hangar pets. I've seem to have bought a Chronos dread which doesn't have fighters piloted by pilots, instead, my pilots seem to have been replaced with Llamas. So is there any alternative hangar pets which you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

I think the strength of the Chronos is definitely the temporal stuff which can make him a powerful and fun to play exotic tank. :)

I gave mine to one of my engineering toons which I usually play on ground maps. The Chronos is so powerful that the toon can handle everything in space just fine and that without me having much to think about it. Eventhough the toon is penalized a bit over the engineering spec tree (which I can afford in a gang of 10) my current build is still able to easily get in the 80k DPS reach.

Over the upgrade weekend I plan to get even more exotic boff powers and gear on the build as this works especially fine with the currently favored temporal+strategist spec tree combo . I’ll probably thow the timeline stabilizer and the terran beam array onto it as well.

Here is my current “I don’t want to worry about that toon in space" build: USS Cygnus

If I keep to chroniton, then i'll definitely have to change my Hangar pets. My OCD can't handle my pets having different weapons than me...

If you go into temporal thematic stuff as in chronitons why not use the native pets? They have chroniton torpedoes and perform quite nicely.

Ah well this is why I mentioned my OCD. You see the beams on the fighters, they are your standard red antiproton beams, rather than the rainbow chroniton beams, they don't look right together. I do wonder why sto dropped the ball and didn't give the epoch fighters chroniton beams instead?

On a side note - STO, enough with antiproton weapons, they are bleedin' everywhere!

Not sure why the epoch got the regular antiproton.

If you'd like antiproton to fit a bit better with the fighters, you could go http://sto.gamepedia.com/Radiant_Armaments - the quantum torpedo has a yellow look that's a bit closer to transphasic or chroniton than straight white. Crazy constant temp hit points dulls the edge on the enemy when you're taking a lot of hits.

And Advanced Radiant Hypercharge is kind of fun as a finisher.

Oooh thanks for that, i'll have to look into this

it was the one thing that confused me too. To generalise for a moment, if there was one thing that p*sses me off about STO, is that they always introduce some awesome new content, then they go TRIBBLE it up by overlooking a singular detail. When New Romulus was created, why go to the trouble of creating the modelling for the Reman areas on New Romulus, then not actually make them accessible? The Kobali Crossbow, great looking weapon, and would be the weapon of choice for many players but only if it had a beam and not a bolt action. The Delphic handblaster, why is the secondary fire mode "rapid fire"? It looks ridiculous. And now the Chronos Temporal Dreadnought. The vessel is supposed to be carrying chroniton weapons, so why fit the fighters with standard antiproton? These little lazy overlooks are growing very weary on me, especially for a player who's dropped a considerable amount of cash in the game thus far...

This is why I made the post in the first place, i'm feeling like I want to rip everything out of my Chronos and start again, but have everything match up, weapons and all.

    Read. Ponder. Giggle maniacally.

I took some ideas from this and packed Tal Shiar Adapted Cruiser full of Elachi Crescent turrets along with the new Nausican disruptor damage torpedo and the evil laughter is simply non-stop.

The Chronos is a burly platform to experiment with proc-tastic turret/single cannon builds.
