Starbase 24 / Nimbus III Worth Farming EC credits?

HI,

PS4 player with 3 characters between ranks 52-54. Wtih all 3, about halfway to 3/5 through the storylines as STO is the kind of game that sidetracks me a lot. :)

With the additional of Doff and Admiralty Systems on Thursday, I notice my main was getting real low on EC credits. As I needed to replay Fist of Gorn 4 times to getd "Law" for 4 characters, I notice the trash to sell I was getting was only around Mark V. So I gave SB24 a whirl for my main and an alt and all I was picking up was Mark I/II items. Barely netted 20k in EC credits for spending 15-20 mins or more there. Tour the Galaxy seems much more worthwhile for 15 mins of time.

Both SB24 and Nimbus III came highly recommended in the forums for farming EC, yet to me they don't seem worth the effort except the Mark II rare items I get at the end, which I could use for crafting. FYI, I did SB24 solo if that matters. Am I missing something still being so new to end game stuff? Why are they worth farming?

Probably same question could apply to KSF also as I did that on Thursday night and also didn't seem worth the effort either. I had fun, which counts but not at the point yet to buy and sell keys so looking for other farming options.

Thanks.

SB24 on pc gives out level appropriate items. VR MK II is nice if it has mods that are good because of crafting. I don't know what the meta is over there but a combo of critd and pen on pc can be worth a nice chunk. The point of farming there is for the couple of items worth selling on the exchange not the total of what you get from your vendor trash.

Nimbus lowers your level to ~26 so low mark items there are normal. I'm not sure why nimbus is farmed. It seems to much work for the reward for me. There probably is something I don't know about though.

I farm Nimbus III for lockboxes. Everything dies quickly so the drops are fast and frequent. All the other stuff I get I either feed to tribbles or the replicator.

I have done SB24 a half dozen times recently. I vendored the stuff at a 50% Vendor. Loot ranges were about 275k to 300k EC.

Phase II may take a bit as they seemed to have silently changed what they considered 'Battleships' a few weeks ago. You used to get credit for the Neg'Var Warships and the Vor'char Battlecrusiers. Now it is just the Negh'Var. Easy enough to kill, it's just the time waiting for them to spawn.

Sounds like you're not playing at the appropriate level, as items awarded are appropriate to the level you set the queue at, not the level you are. SB24 at lvl 60 on PC can net you 400k+ solo. Yes it's effort, but use tactics such as flanking so you're not overwhelmed.

I go in as a 60 solo. I have not set anything lower. I did get a 300k something once.

At rank 54 on PS4, I don't need tactics as I can just plow through groups as rewards are only Mark I /II from drops. It's pew pew or launch torpedoes and dead.

There appears to be no scaling 'up' for SB24 or KSF.

That's why I am posting to see if I am missing something.

False. With respect, this has NEVER been the case - it has ALWAYS and ONLY been Negvars that give you credit for Battleships. Unless a bug crept in semi-recently that gave credit for Vorchas.

To the OP - if you're going to strictly vendor trash it, the above posters are correct. If you're doing it for the MK XII items you get for 1st and second place (1st place gives you 2 Purple quality level appropriate items), you may want to wait a but until the CCA event is done,as there is a glut of those on the exchange currently.

Solo-SB24 used to be a thing. Still is for a lot of people. Same goes for KSF, Argala, N'vak (KDF only). I think it's N'vak. If you aren't KDF, then there's Ker'rat but only if you can stand getting ganked some of the time.

IMO, once you reach the DQ, nothing beats Argala as far as speed and convenience.
When you see "TRIBBLE" in my posts, it's because I manually typed "TRIBBLE" and censored myself.

Thanks for all the responses. I didn't see anything on setting the level for the queue so I'll have see when I get on again. Things aren't always apparent on the PS4.

IF you can get purple kit modules from farming on Nimbus, then Nimbus isn't a horrible option. anything below purple is vendor trash, and probably not even worth the bother of selling it to an npc. like the bartender guy in the Nimbus bar. So you're probably best served stuffing it into the replicator.

if you just want a quick injection Argala usually provides enough vendor trash for 100k-150k ec per run, just a 30min wait between runs

Yep, just looking for injection to keep things running. New additions to PS4 seem to be chewing up EC on my main. Kind of surprised me when I checked my main's assets this morning. Was down to 60k from 300k on Thursday before update.

Have to pay more attention to what is using EC. :)

Work on tour the galaxy. Perfect score can get approx. 900k EC, per run, per toon. Even if you are medicore lets say 400-500k, for 15min of work.

But there is a science to it, perfecting your build, finding a route....
