Every time I log into one of my toons that I haven't used in a while, I'm always shocked when I notice the the new spec tree that replaced the old system.
It's a slap in the face when I recall having completely filled up my old specializations and having to start over from ground zero with the new system...
Sure, they give you a handfull of spec tokens to use as if your toon was just reaching level 60 - but let's face facts, most of our toons would have been level 200+ when they changed it over.
Really, leaves you feeling drained when you run into these little 'hiccups'.

If anything, you gain. If you're level 50+ you start with the max number of available skill points to distribute. The vast majority of players saw sizable gains from the new system.
If you're referring to the Specialization tree, you lose nothing there either since that's all stuff we didn't have previously.
Instead of fearing the change, try embracing it. The players actually made out favorably in this revamp.
Spec tree, not skill tree.
You do gain a bit from the new one, but they don't really give you back what you lost in the previous one as far as what you spent on it (time, etc.). And this is all 'end-game' or rather 'after end-game' additions at that.
They've changed the s-trees too many times to be sure of which one I'm referring to, so I may be getting the old ones mixed. -.-
I don't think I'm understanding here.
Are you trying to get a character on the console up to the point where you were on the PC version? Because there is no way that I'm aware of to ever lose specialization points.
While it is true that it is a somewhat longer time gate doffing and admiralty keep it alt-friendly and free of grind.
I noticed that only for players that take their fair share of breaks from game the spec system poses any form of obstacle. If one invests 5 minutes a day regularly in it, it is barley noticeable.
Given the fact that one can only have 1 primary and 1 secondary tree active at any given time I’d consider the system to be even fair for season tourists as well as hardcore STO players.
In the other thread you claimed that you were bored. With multiple alts you have a nice chance for customization here.

yep. Lots of alts. Which is why I was bored. Have done most of everything too many times. Dug up some of my oldest ones and ran into this issue. not a big deal, just a frustration, considering those alts were a couple of my very first ones and were maxed out as it were on the older systems.
Been playing Champions in my off time of late, only stopping in to touch base in STO lately.
Well the deck of toons one has or one can maintain is always correlated with the average gaming time one has at his disposal. While 3-5 minutes spend on admiralty and doffing for a character does not sound much it does ad up. With my gang of 10 it easily takes half an hour or even one each day for me. Still the global progression for my account is at warp speed compared to what I’d face if I try to develop my toons on an entirely active toon by toon basis.
Even if my work or friends hinder me to play I see to it that I get at least those 30 minutes. That way, spec trees are always at max and Dil as well as EC is never a problem.
I could imagine that under these circumstances even long breaks from game would leave one close to up to date when one returns to STO to play it actively again.
