Night of the Comet mission new ending objective?

I'm running Night of the Comet mission on a new alt. I have played this mission many times before. I destroyed the comet and didn't destroy any Klingon ships which should end the mission. After blowing up several times I have always either made a run away from the pack or just respawned so that could hit my exit mission button on my map. The objectives listed showed that I destroyed the comet and then it said to destroy remaining Klingon ships. I know they revisited these missions with voice over in their last patch. Did they change the end objective too? I just had to destroy the comet and get out before. No way my tier 2 ship could take out all those Klingons. And I believe it's programmed to keep sending in more. When I exited as I usually do into sector space I have to completely replay the mission. Anybody know what's up with this mission.

I'll try to run this with another alt. The Borg node should give me the option to leave when I'm not in combat but this node wasn't revealed after the comet was destroyed. The destroy remaining Klingon mission objective remains puzzling.

It is asking you to destroy the Klingon ships? The Klingon ships are supposed to only be disabled due to their destruction causing changes to the past.

That is odd. Attacking the Klingon ships just disables them.

You're not suppose to destroy the klingon ships because you might alter the timeline, temporal prime directive applies. This is even told to you in the mission. That is why you can only disable not kill the ships. Particularly the reason behind he fed ship that greets you at the begining and attacks you for being a klingon ship.

If they changed it IT DONT MAKE NO SENSE.

Sounds like a bug to me honestly.

    It's a bug, it seems.
I tried it and disabling all Klingon ships didn't complete the objective (granted, I destroyed all the comet fragments before dealing with the two last ships, so maybe I wasn't supposed to). So I was left keeping dodging B'Vat's ship for about 2 minutes moving around the map (first by leaving the objective area and re-entering it, then by trying to damage B'Vat's ship a little more) to no effect.

Just saying this mission seems different now. I NEVER had to mess with Klingon ships to complete the mission. I high tailed it out of there until the Borg probe let me warp to sector space. I understand that shooting at the Klingon ships disables them and that shooting at B'vat's ship destroys it and fouls the mission. I was told a very long time ago indeed that you shouldn't fight with the Klingon ships at all as the AI just keeps sending in more. The story line is to destroy the comet and leave. I'm trying now and will determine what completes the mission. Thanks for everybody's feedback.

That is actually not true. Its actually tied to the number of Comet pieces you destroy. At each "milestone" two more D7s are added. My first playthrough I tried to ignore them, only to blow up a lot because I was getting swarmed. Now I just disable them as they come and carry on.

But if the mission is now bugged...
And that is actually one of my favorites. Plenty of Dividians to Bust.

Yeh, I was told to ignore the ships and did blow up a lot myself. Watch Brent Justice's play though as an example. Old school. Ignore the Klingons, whack the asteroids. So does anybody know if B'vat's ship can be disabled? I doubt it and don't want to try. Anyway, I will fight the Klingon armada with my single sucky Tier 2 ship and we'll see how that goes. Thanks guys.

Nope, B'Vat's ship reaches a point where one of your BOffs says something along the lines of "one more hit and it will be destroyed" after a couple Comet Fragments and the game means it - you don't even have to do the damage, it can be splash damage from another ship's warp core breaching or something and it can still destroy B'Vat's ship and cause a mission failure.

Things do change in this game, especially after patches, and they are not intended. Perhaps this mission is meshed up. Here is an experience I had myself.

I did 'Takedown' the mission in the Delta episode where you go after Gaul. In the base on the planet several floors were missing and ramps were not connected to each other. It was quite a challenge to get to where you want to go. I managed it and so did the away team to my surprise. Anybody remember that mission in the fire caves in the old Dominion arc?

What's this about a borg probe in this episode? There are no borg.

he's talking about the borg temporal device drake installs on your ship - without your knowledge or permission, i might add...a.sshole - and triggers after the comet is pebbles to bring you back to 2409

Ran mission again with another alt. Once all the Klingon ships are disabled AND the comet fragments/ shards destroyed B'vat's ship leaves and the mission is done. I used a Klingon alt and having a cloaked ship to search for shards really helped. Next I'm running my Tier 2 Fed science ship. Sigh At least shields will be good.

I ran this last week, and the klingon ships were merely disabled, but I was asked to "destroy remaining ships" after the final fragment was destroyed. At this point, there was only B'vats ship left to fire at, so I fired just once and his ship exploded. Until I did that, there was no other way to end the mission. The mission then qualified as passed and Drake/K'Men both then give you the spiel about historians looking at why the comet mysteriously disappeared.

It's always been there as part of the closing dialogue; once the comet's completely destroyed, there's a recorded message from K'Men/Drake about how a Borg Temporal Node recovered from Gamma Orionis was installed on your ship during your last dock visit and is activating automatically to return you to 2409. It's complete fluff, just appears in dialogue and has no effect on anything nor can it be seen or interacted with.

The Borg tech isn't seen, Drake mentions in dialog that he put a Borg temporal device on your ship to allow you to get home, after all we don't do the slingshot at the end. One thing though, I have always loved this mission for pointing out the single biggest plot hole in STIV. This being, why did they use Sol for the slingshot? Why not Proxima Centauri or literally any other star reasonably close to Sol? Especially for the return flight, as soon as they rescued the whales the urgency was gone from that situation, then just aim for about a week before they stole the Enterprise & not only do they not stand trial they can save the Grissom, David, & the Enterprise. Of course that sets up a series of new problems to resolve in a superior fifth film ;)

Star Trek V: The Vinyl Frontier - A disgraced Kirk is now the owner of a vintage music store in downtown San Francisco where he regularly provides "under the counter" services to cadets facing the Kobyashi Maru test.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - Kirk is given a chance to redeem himself and his crew by preventing interstellar war. His mission return "his" stolen Bird of Prey and convince the Klingon High Command that they simply miscounted their ships. Meanwhile Spock must use all his logic to uncover a plot deep within Starfleet Command which is intended to solve the problem of "that pesky kid from Iowa who breaks all the rules". The crew of the Enterprise must race against time to find a credible solution which explains the new franchise series set in the next century.

Hmm they def tweaked a lot of those old missions. I played the mission where you use the Guardian today and noted that the Klingons you shot dropped TOS loot! That is def new... also the ground map for the portal is O_O!!!! hmmm that requires it's own thread.

To be honest, I have not notice much of a change in the old mission as I decided to dust off my AoY captain on my secondary account that I am trying to level up to 50 by tonight. I have been blowing past missions on my "spare time" that I am not devoting to captains on my primary account.

My secondary account has basically been inactive shortly after the Summer Event and my AoY Captain was only at level 26. I think I am currently level 44 and just finished the Klingon War story arc. I guess I have been rushing through the missions so fast that the minor changes have not registered in my head. Need to rush through some more missions by tonight before I can slow down to appreciate the minor changes to the old missions... and also get enough shards before the CC Event on Nov. 24th at 10am.
