Exothermic induction not working right

Whenever I use this ability it doesn't seem to work correctly. All I get is a burst of damage and the enemies are not set on fire like they're supposed to. Also the animation doesn't trigger until a few seconds later (Usually after all the enemies are dead). I've also encountered this problem with plasma grenade. Anyone else encountered this problem? Wanted to ask before I send in a bug report.

they changed 'hazard' abilities a few months ago so they have to be within the hazard to continue being afflicted by its DoT - in the case of EIF, that would be the 'on fire' bit; enemies run out of it so fast as soon as you deploy one that they just don't stay on fire
Like special weapons from other Star Trek games? Wondering if they can be replicated in STO even a little bit? Check this out: https://forum.arcgames.com/startrekonline/discussion/1262277/a-mostly-comprehensive-guide-to-star-trek-videogame-special-weapons-and-their-sto-equivalents

    ^this
hate to say it but he's right they neutered the powers.... on the upside, iirc, they did buff the initial damage as compensation

I suspect they did it because the potential combination of Exothermic Induction Field (pre-change, with the DoT effect) with the DOff that causes the instability that draws enemies towards an EIF, PLUS the DoT boosting passives of the Temporal Operative Spec had the potential to be overpowered...

Not saying I agree - I don't. Saying something is 'overpowered' is another way of saying 'whoever came up with how to use it like that is smarter than I am and I hate it'. - but it's likely...

If Endothermic still has the slow effect, pick up that kit from Qs Winter Wonderland in December.

I know they tend to run away from the area of the EIF but that's why I carry eletro-static/gravitic field? to hold them in place but that doesn't seem to work well either. I guess it's just the animation of the effect that's throwing me off. Cause I'll trigger EIF and electro field then kill the enemies and then suddenly the floor catches fire after the fact. Would hyperonic radiation be a good alternative?

for me the animation for exothermic also triggers a second time as the power ends... but there are so many messed up things in sto I just roll with it

This^ There's a flash of fire animation that plays when you cast it, btu for some weird reason it now plays when it ends too.
