You know, I'm delighted that my away teams can walk again. That's very welcome, thanks to the Devs.
Now, here's another thing I've hoped to see. Since you guys seem to be doing some of the things I've always asked for (:D), I thought it would be nice if our away teams could do the scanning of objects instead of our Captains.
That is, if my Tactical Captain beams down with a science officer, the SCIENCE officer should be doing the scans of rocks and energy readings and the like. If there's technology to be repaired or analyzed, my engineer would be doing it, not me. If there's a bomb to be placed, or a lock to be picked, a Tactical (security) officer would be the logical choice to do it.
I mean, how often did Kirk or Picard do the scanning or the repairing or what have you? As the Commanding Officer, we should be DELEGATING these tasks. This is especially so once we become Admirals.
We know from the foundry that our away team officers can be identified by their class, as seen in dialogs. So, perhaps working from that technology, we could have the game make the officers do the scanning, based on the kind of object being scanned.
So, if it's a rock, tree or other natural object, the game would identify a science officer in the away team and have that character do the scan.
If it's a machine, computer or other technology, it would choose an engineer in the away team.
If it's a bomb, weapon or security device, such as a lock or force field, a tactical officer would be the one to do the scan.
If there's no appropriate officer, then the Captain would do it.
Just a suggestion, I don't know how easy or difficult it might be to do, but it would be great to see.

^Words that every player should keep in mind, especially whenever there's a problem with the game...
obviously, this can't be done in space because you're alone, so you'd still have to do it yourself there
