Cannot switch Bridge officer specialization

I cannot switch between the specializations on Bridge officers and all my settings for defaults have been screwed up. Essentially, between this and the kit and modules bugs, this game is now unplayable.

I hate to be a complete b- about this, but if I let code go out like this at my job, they would have my head along with my job, where is the competence with release engineering?
